This is the perfect situation for a Hunter appearance. Good job Buck!

I almost wanted Hunter to give up a run, so that Buck is less likely to use him in another late and close situation. Lol.

No, the analytics aren't saying to bat him 2nd or 3rd. That's just Buck, stubbornness, or they fear he'll chase even more garbage without Alonso behind him.

That is the kind of ballgame we like to see more of. METS hitters working on all cylinders and getting some key hits. Plus carrasco a bit surprising by going kind of deep. Let’s see if they can feast offensively in Denver.

Kind of under the radar, but the man on the team with the two biggest at bats was Baty. He came up twice today, in a tie game, with a RISP. He came through both times. A sac fly in the first and a RBI single in the 3rd. That’s the kind of clutch we do desperately need.

So who goes when the Mets bring up Mauricio?

I think it will be Vogelbach. Given the way the Mets have been throwing around money, I would not be surprised if the Mets just wound up releasing him.

And when Narvaez comes back it will be Nido that is gone. Funny how things turn out. It looks like the Mets may wind up exercising Narvaez' option for 2024 (at the appropriate time).

BTW, the Mets made a dumb move with Sanchez. According to the NY Post, the Mets owe SAnchez $1.1M. The dumb move was not to DFA him, the dumb move was to guarantee him that kind of money.

I am certainly an advocate of bringing up Mauricio, and believe he should have already been with the Mets to take advantage of his hot streak. However, his errors are concerning, 5 in 20 games at SS and 6 in 24 games at 2B. A 40 error pace for a second baseman is alarming considering the short throws.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to learning a new position. I agree it has to be Vogelbach, since his role is so limited. If Vientos and/or Mauricio don't stick, it would be easy to fill Vogelbach's spot. They could bring back Guillorme and fill the DH spot by giving guys a half day off.

Using the DH as a spot to rotate makes the most sense…in the event that Vientos doesn’t work out. Between McNeil and Escobar, those are two guys that can play anywhere on the field and makes that decision a lot easier.

If Trump can become president with no political background then I don't understand why I need a resumé

I think cutting Vogelbach makes the most sense, as he really just takes up a roster spot and doesn’t have a lot of versatility. I also think Canha/Pham makes sense to be cut just because they’re essentially the same player - in terms of production.

    Regardless of who is cut, I want to see a lineup of something like;

    Nimmo
    Lindor
    Baty
    Alonso
    Alvarez
    McNeil
    Vientos
    Mauricio
    Marte

    Giving Baty some protection might make him do a little bit better than being in the 5th hole with somebody like Marte behind him. I also like his bat a lot so him batting 3rd guarantees him more at bats and more chances in better situations. I don’t like Lindor in the 2 hole but he does do well in high leverage situations. I think dropping him to 5th or so would also make a ton of sense in the long run in which case I would go with a lineup of;

    Nimmo
    McNeil
    Alvarez
    Alonso
    Lindor
    Baty
    Vientos
    Mauricio
    Marte

Which I also think makes a ton of sense just for the fact that Baty did well in the 6 hole and giving Alvarez the protection of Alonso also helps him out. Not to mention stacking the two power bats would just be super sexy. I still prefer Pete in the 3 hole as opposed to clean up but I don’t care too much either way.

If Marte plays well, I would like him back in the 2nd spot. If he could be trusted, here is my lineup with alternating L/R. Eventually when the Baby Mets are more established, I would adjust it to move them up if warranted. I just want them in the lineup somewhere almost every day.

    Nimmo
    Marte
    McNeil
    Alonso
    Lindor
    Alvarez
    Baty
    Vientos
    Mauricio

I like this lineup as well but I do think McNeil should bat second because he is a better table setter than Marte imo even when both are going well. Yeah Marte has speed but you can use that speed later in the order too. I know they don't want 2 lefties in a row at the top but McNeil has hit lefties well for his career. He's not a liability in that respect.
