soroka has a 5.47 era with a 1.6 WHIP, Dodd has a 7.5 era with a 1.7 WHIP, and Shuster has a 3.28 era with a 1.4 whip. none of those are great options. it should be noted that quite often with minor league games though teams will have pitchers overuse a single pitch even if its getting pummuled out there to work on it and stuff like that. Plus the AAA catcher probably has no repertoire with the pitcher, the umps are worse, and the defense is worse. all that said its also true that the hitting is far worse on the other side too.
Through 7 games in May (32 PA) Ozuna is slashing .296/.406/.741 with 5 homers. He just homered again today. Is he rounding back into form? Would be huge if we could get some power out of Ozuna’s bat.

AA has been trying to add to the team's org pitching depth in the last few days. The team signed Justus Sheffield to a minor league deal a few days ago. The team has also placed Kyle Wright on the 60 day injured list and claimed Dereck Rodriguez off waivers from the Twins. Moving Wright to the 60 day injured list apparently frees up his spot on the 40 man roster to be used by Rodriguez. I haven't heard about the Braves moving Max Fried from the 15 day injured list to the 60 day injured list, so I assume they are holding out hope that Fried will be back in less than 2 months.

culberson called up. Adrianza was put on the 60 day DL. lets hope we don't need to much from culberson.
man Acuna's stats are simply absurd. at this point he is the NL MVP and its not even close. lot of baseball left though. one of the more interesting things is that Acunas defense has been somewhere between Garbage and completely awful.
man I really wanted a SS this year, but Correa has a .669 OPS, Turner has a .692 OPS, Bogaerts has a .787 OPS, and Dansby has a .759 OPS. the last two are pretty good especially since they have been awesome defensively according to baseball savant. of course arcia has a .973 OPS and a 160 ops+.
other note, to me it doesn't feel like the bullpen has been awesome, but they are 11th in era, 5th in FIP, and 5th in war. so they have been better then I thought they were.
I am curious if Ozuna can keep up whats he has been doing lately, and at the same time I think its about time we pulled the plug on Rosario. he has a .693 ops, negative war, and its the last year of his deal. problem is that he has incredible numbers(on only 19 ABs) against lefties but is only has a .600 ops against righties.
Soroka pitched 6 innings-96 pitches and only gave up 2 hits, 1 hr, and 3 walks, and struck out 8 as well a few nights ago. AJ smith Shawver just pitched 7 in 4 hits, 2 errors, 3 walks, 8ks on only 86 pitches. the pitch count is kinda insane. with how bad dodd has been, they might give soroka a chance in the bigs pretty soon.
Ozuna is kinda interesting. after a .425 ops in April he now has a 1.09 OPS in May. his OPS+ finally is now over 102. his BA is still terrible, but at least now when he hits a ball lately its been going over the fence. I said before, I want to see this for 2 months still.
Dylan Dodd really hasn't been great for the braves. he wasn't terrible today, but he wasn't great either.
I still think that at some point Elder is going to bust and its not going to be pretty. you can't possibly have 2 batters on in 3 straight innings and not expect to give up some runs like he did yesterday. like clearly there is something that the savant page isn't catching with him, but he has to pitch better. whats insane though is like the teams he has pitched too was the Astros, the Orioles(they are no joke check their record), the blue jays, the mariners, and the dodgers. the only thing Elder has done so far is limit homer, but I am not a 100% sure thats on him.
I wouldn't know what to do with AJ minter if I was the braves. like this last game he gave up a run on a bunt, and a single on a pitch that was off the plate and a double that was on the top corner. whats weird is that historically his issue has been walking people, but he hasn't had that problem this year and he is still striking out a ton of guys. I don't know if he is so worried about not walking guys he is hitting to much of the plate, or his stuff doesn't have the same movement or what, but the braves are far too good to just keep using a guy with a 7.5 era pitch in very high leverage situations all the time.
sounds like Soroka is going to be getting a start tomorrow.
