I mean if you talking about going from an all nba guy to maybe being out of the league? I have no idea, but you can't be asking if he is the biggest bust from the #1 spot cause he isn't even in the top ten. like think
Fultz, bennet, Oden, Bargnani, Kwame, Olowokandi, Joe Smith, etc. I mean the hardest thing about him is that he has suffered the back injury, but its hard to say that it had a major effect on him. I was always a "hater" on him cause I thought his skillset was useless in the playoffs, but he isn't even close to that guy anymore.
kinda hard to imagine this was 2 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbezMUTAtg8
but just look at him running to the rim and not being worried about getting fouled. thats a far cry from the guy we see today. that version of simmons is obviously flawed, but a 6-9 player who can defend everything but a center at an elite level, run the fast break, and be a pick and roll screen setter that can be a dual threat finisher and passer would still be an all star, but he wasn't any of that for the nets.

His usage dropped by a 3rd versus what it has been in Philly, coupled with whatever lingering back issues. He's possibly capable of still being a 14/8/8 player, but any team using him that much is stupid. I honestly think Justise Winslow couple average that with higher usage.
Simmons should have gone one of two ways in his development. Either Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo archetypes.
Would have been a competent well rounded offensive player just by developing a 72+% FT shot, but the guy was seen in multiple interviews using his own words to say he didn't think he needed to learn how to shoot. Maybe some of the interview questions were geared towards 3pt shooting, but some asked about shooting in general and he could care less about that part of the game.
All said, nobody would have a word of criticism for Simmons if he made $12M.
obviously no one, but him truly knows what happened with the back stuff. listening to the podcast he did you heard it was a really big deal, but his usage also dropped cause he just wants nothing to do with the ball. he tries to get rid of it as fast as he can and does everything he can to not get fouled. I agree on the shooting. thats the one thing I will never get as a regular person. how can you not shoot like 70% from the line. I know that interestingly huge hands make it harder to do, but I don't think Simmons is quite in that range. obviously it can be work ethic or mental issues, but man thats tough. I wish he could have been on a different team. not because I think the 76ers did something wrong, but what could have been if he had been in a different system or developed differently. would things be any different.
NO Harden no problem for Philly. 8 straight![]()
Bucks-Celtics-76ers will each play each other once more. The race for the top seed in the East will be interesting. I still think Milwaukee will be the top seed.
Kessler's block sealed the win for Utah. Philly move into 2nd place by percentage point but Boston hold the tiebreaker.
Philly will always go as far as Embiid can carry them. Señor Stepback just needs to be a decent sidekick and not totally disappear.
I'd hate to see Philly follow Embiid's lead this season and advance farther in the playoffs only for Harden to capitalize in his contract negotiations making them think he was a primary reason.
