Dubas is all in. This is exciting. Leafs literally have no draft capital left the next few seasons. Forget winning one round now. They need a deep run.

My initial thoughts are that its an overpay...ROR is not the same player he once was. He has 19 pts in 40 gp and is minus 24 playing 23 minutes per game. I hope it works out with him being 3C.

Giving up that much draft capital I feel like they have to go for it now and beef up the defense.

Engvall to Islanders for 2024 3rd and Schenn acquired from Canucks for 2023 3rd...I see these moves today as somewhat cap related with the Leafs saving $2 mil full season space. I believe they needed to make room for Murray to come off LTIR.

I'd say a little of both. With McCabe here for another 2 season after this one is probably another reason. Maybe the front office sees something we don't and figured it's best to get a 1st now while they still can.
