Peraza is dealing with a vision issue in his left eye. He had trouble with the eye chart and was sent for more testing. He was 20/60 in the left eye and is having a little trouble adjusting to the contacts, which is why he hasn't been playing as much. Part of this was reported to Sherman
It;s dumb AF, but I could see them using it as a reason to send him down till he adjusts.
Per Micheal Volpe, Anthony has been told he's made the team. Volpe's Dad is a big supporter of our channel and talks to my Boss quite often.

Ignorance is bliss
Sending Peraza down (NO indication this has even been suggested) in order to give him time to adjust MAY simply be a safety issue. Isn't it possible they are looking out for his health and safety? Just a thought.
According to Peraza:
The 22-year-old is wearing contact lenses for the first time after the Yankees sent him to an eye doctor after he struggled with an eye chart.
“I took one of those tests off the wall and there was something with my left eye, so they wanted me to have it checked out,’’ Peraza said through an interpreter. “So I went and got contacts.”
“One thing I can tell the difference is if I’m at shortstop and something happens with PitchCom and the catcher has to put signs down, I can see his fingers much more clearly,’’ Peraza said. “But I can see everything better now.”
“Overall, I see everything better, so that’s gonna give you more of a sense of confidence,’’ Peraza said.
“I don’t know how much it impacts me on offense, but I played all last year without contacts, so I think they will be good there, too,’’ Peraza said. “I believe I have a little more clarity now and I could tell my eyes were tired sometimes when I was hitting last year.”
“It’s one of those things that if it’s gonna help, why not take advantage of it?” Peraza said. “I’ve enjoyed the results I’ve gotten so far.”

Just trade him! I’m already tired of the excuses you all give for him. The dude didn’t touch Volpe all spring and now the excuses come out of thin air.
I want them both to be in the infield with Peraza at SS and Volpe at 2b. But Peraza had a crummy spring with the bat. And Volpe has had a terrific spring with the bat, on the base paths and with the glove.
He should be your Opening Day SS, he deserved it and outplayed both competitors.
When DJ said Volpe is already major league ready then that is all I needed to know. The players know, they are around them more than some stupid scout who eats a hot dog misses a play while the mustards slides off.

Nicky relax. I don't have a dog in this race. I do agree Volpe has out played Peraza "in ST." If it truly is a competition the winner imo is clear. BUT as I said a week or so ago, it may have been preordained who the SS would be this season. Only problem....Volpe ****ed with their plan!
It's a good problem to have. Two extremely talented middle infielders.
