I'm a little surprised that no one is talking about Cabrera or how well he has played this spring. He started games at every position except pitcher and catcher. He's leading the team of the guys left in hits, HR, and RBI and is hitting .306.
This kid was on pace for a 5war season over a full season last yr. I won't be surprised if he puts up those kinda numbers again. That is an incredibly valuable player for us.

I know everything is Volpe vs Peraza but Cabrera is looking like he's going to be a huge piece of this team this yr

They should just trade Torres now and then go with Peraza at SS and Volpe at 2b and then don’t look back!
    I'm 100% down for this.

Day you are absolutely right. He's lighting things up. He wants a spot and has been working his butt off to get one and keep it! In 40 AB's slashing .300/.364/.500/.864 12H 2HR 9RBI

Same, I’d love that. It will never happen, though. At least not right now

Excited for Cabrera. Plus defense, and potentially a plus bat all over the field. Huge weapon

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

I think he's making a case for the starting LF job and utility.

Even I have to admit, peraza hasn't looked great at the plate the last couple weeks. I don't think you send him down and I thin he can turn it around but Volpe and Cabrera have been so good, it's made him look worse by comparison

My thinking is if they aren't going to use Peraza at SS now then they should and should have been traded. Volpes bat give him the ability to play any position, Peraza would be fine at 2nd or 3rd but if your not playing him at SS, your not getting the most out of him.

If the future up the middle is Volpe and Peraza as Hal has said many times, then they need to do that to start the season. Peraza hit /330 for 3 months in triple A and has absolutely zero left to prove in AAA. He hit 306 and played great defense when he was called up. Very similar sample size, he's a notoriously slow starter in spring.

If there is a real competition at SS, Volpe has won no question. You told this kid if he played well enough he could make the team. At this point he has Judge and Rizzo pushing for him, you can't send him down. He's everything you can ask for from a prospect. If Peraza wasn't on the team I would be pushing for Volpe at SS.

If you don't use them the best way, move him for something we need. Burnes is in his walk yr and isn't resigning with the Brewers after that arbitration disaster. For 1yr of Burnes , Peraza plus isn't a bad return. Then they are clear to resign Torres for 8yr200m

Cashman is betting his legacy on this group of prospects and they are already messing with one of the better ones were going to see.

Agreed that Volpe has done what he needs to do in order to make the club. The Yanks are in constant WS mode they don’t need to wait time for Volpe to get another year of control with time in the minors if the dude is ready play him from day one.

Cabrera is exactly as advertised and I would stick him in every position to get his energy, defense and bat in the line up.

I’m excited for these two guys being on the club much more than what the Yankees fielded at the beginning of last season.
