I was watching some of the game. They said he was intentionally not throwing it today because they wanted him to work on other pitches. He was getting squeezed by the all amazing Angel Hernandez which didn't help his overall numbers but his command looked solid despite the 3 walks.
Can't say for certain, but I'm guessing he's not throwing the ghost in order to let that finger strain fully heal. I did hear that the size of the ball originally was a factor in the strain. Just hope that he's figured some things out about adapting to it in the interim, and it doesn't recur once he starts using it again. I doubt they were concerned about him showing it to the Astros, who they wont play for real for another 3 months.
Ruf got a hit yesterday!
At this point, all the Mets FO have to see is that Ruff is healthy and they will go with him for opening day. But Ruf will be on a short leesch. However, the guy that may take his place is Vientos. I'm guessing Ruf has until May 1 to prove himself.
Absent any injury or health issue, I suspect he will be okay and last the year.
I am in Florida to celebrate my milestone birthday on Saturday and looking forward to the Saturday & Sunday games. I will be on the 3B side a bit beyond the dugout about half way up field level.
Mets signed Dylan Bundy. Decent depth move in case of further rotation injury which we all know is coming at some point.
I was having trouble downloading my tickets so we stopped at the stadium ticket office early this afternoon and they gave us paper tickets - a nice souvenir.
We also stopped at the Mets store and got some items. We will head back to Clover Field in about an hour. Glad it’s a night game given the week.

Buck has Peterson starting game 2 in Miami and Verlander game #3. He said he wanted to break up Scherzer and Verlander as a way to give the BP rest. Interesting move.
Watch, Peterson goes and pitches 8 innings and the whole plan goes awry as the greater part of the BP is rested for 3 days in a row, Lol.
Tommy Hunter has been told he has made the team. So we have Robertson, Ottavino, Smith, Raley, Hunter, and probably Curtis...Santana (?), Nogosek (?).
If Santana makes the team that will be a coup for Eppler, having taken him off waivers from Minny. It's not shiny or earth shattering, but say what you will, Eppler has amassed a group of pitchers who have some good upside, starting with Ridings. Apart from the fact he had a bad ST, it helps explain why the Mets eagerly returned Greene to the Yankees.
Zach Muckenhirn, who had not given up a run all ST was also assigned to the minor league complex. It is, afterall, only ST. If he is for real, that will come out wherever he is pitching next. I guess this also dispels any concerns about Raley's health. I have to admit, it would have been nice to hear the announcers tongue twist on the name Muckenhirn. And...if anything went wrong, we could have just said it was a muckenhirn.
According to what I have read, the powers that be (FO and Mgr.) have said that Vientos played 3B better than his rep. I would like to see him get some time in at 3B at Syracuse, in addition to 1B where he will be playing mostly. You never know....if Ohtani winds up on the bloc it might take a package that includes Baty. I would also like to see the Mets have Vientos play some OF. Syracuse should have a pretty good lineup.
