Montas headed for shoulder surgery

Montas had his first rib removed in 2016. He had TOS, which is what Matt Harvey had and many others.
That injury is often the result of a rotator cuff or other shoulder injury, trauma. The side effects of that surgery can basically be the same issues you started with or other shoulder, nerve, structural or strength problems (a ton of other stuff but not applicable to the shoulder)

So if surgery is the case for him, I say if because it's not been reported yet. I trust your info Day but it's not public info yet.
If this is the case, Montas was shut down in 2016 for a shoulder issue. Then was banned in 2019 for PEDs, then in 2020 was shut down for his back. Then 2022 for his shoulder. Then 2022 again for his shoulder.

Even if he doesn't need surgery, this was such an abhorrently bad idea.
If he does need it, **** Cashman and his crying about the As not being honest. You traded for a guy who just came off the IL because of a shoulder problem. If you look at his history, what part of this was wroth it?

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder myself. I got the message yesterday about 9 AM. Seems it would have been more public by now.

I could also see why Cashman my be trying to keep it quiet until they absolutely have to announcement.

Last yr was absolutely horrible for Cashman and the deals he made. Since the Gallo deal, the only good trade he's made was Trevino. Gallo, IKF/JD, Montas, Effross and even Benny.

Its no wonder they brought in Sabean and Minaya

It isn't just pitchers. Gallo was terrible. Stanton while not horrible is a big hinderance in the lineup, The "JD, Rortvedt, IKF" is looking abysmal

I just hope they don't freak out and trade the farm to get another arm.

The montas trade respresents everything that is stupid about Cashman and his dumpster diving. Kluber, Paxton, Tallion, Montas are his four horsemen of the apocalypse lol. He was only forced to trade for Montas because he didn't value getting any free agent pitching in the offseason. He passed on Rodon, Gausman, Verlander, Ray, etc. because he had to have IKF and JD

I’m starting to not like Cashman anymore. He is a smart baseball guy but makes a lot of boneheaded decisions or takes chances on hoping he can say, I told you so.

He will sign or trade for an old veteran who used to be very good and hopes that player will lose one in the seats in Oct in the late innings of a tied game. And during the regular season he just wants that player to perform at 75% of his career highs as he tries to squeeze one more drip. In most cases there is nothing left. Cashman’s main problem is that he goes to the same well too much. It is dry!
