Arrest Warrant issued for Joe Mixon after threatening to shoot a woman

    https://www.foxnews.com/sports/benga...ant-out-arrest

Mixon pointed a gun at a woman and "did knowingly point a firearm at the victim stating, ‘You should be popped in the face. I should shoot you now. The police can’t get me.’"
Why haven't the Bengals cut him yet?

This happened a day before the Bills/Bengals game.

Joe Mixon's agent, Peter Schaffer, told Pelissero that charges will be dropped today (as they paid off the victim to recant her statement).

Seems Mixon was right when he said the "police cant get him".

Perhaps the best part of this so far is Mixon's agent, who is a lawyer, believes the police file charges, not the DA's office.

On one hand he's proven trash and I wouldn't put this past him. On the other, his history of violence would make him an easy target for these accusations.

If there's any truth at all to it, I hope we see a lengthy suspension.

Some are alleging the incident occurred at 6ish pm and the team left for Buffalo at like 2 pm, which would mean this didn't happen. If that's true and not just Bengals fans hoping, then yeah sounds like he's innocent.

Otherwise this is a 3rd offense for him if he did it.

Have to believe he'll still serve some kind of suspension. Just because someone isn't charged criminally doesnt mean the NFL wont do their own investigation. If its true, watch him get 8 or 9 games when the league gave Calvin Ridley a whole season for betting on games he wasn't even partaking in.

Yes, suspensions for violating rules beyond a shadow of a doubt are generally longer than suspensions where maybe something happened.

In this case charges have been dropped, for now.

The prosecutors reserve the right to re-file the charges, the victim agreed to this motion, but wants Mixon eventually charged. Sounds like they got ahead of themselves with these charges and are looking to file more serious charges when they have a case built. Mixon is definitely not out of the woods, and in fact could be in worse shape legally.

This probably puts him on the Chiefs’ radar now. Wonder what type of trade offer they’ll make.

As much as people like to mock those comparisons it makes sense. Betting on games isn’t illegal in a criminal sense. It’s just a league rule that they can set guidelines on and punish accordingly. It’s straight forward Domestic violence are criminal cases where someone is innocent until proven guilty and then the NFL has to analyze the info that they aren’t qualified to do and issue an arbitrary punishment to appease public opinion. It’s a very difficult thing to do.

I get it but its not like the NFL hasn't punished players who were never charged criminally. I just have an issue with the league putting harsher punishments on a legal activity than they do incidents of domestic violence and other victim related crimes. I understand they are trying to prevent a potential compromise of league integrity but the baseline of 6 games for domestic violence is just that. The commissioner has discretion to increase that suspension based on the details of the case and Joe Mixon has been far from an angel in respect to his treatment of women.

It's still the difference between "definitely" having done something versus "maybe" having done something.

Mixon's first incident came after she hit him, and he hit her back, so it doesn't apply. The second one there is no evidence of. This one the witness/victim is maybe backing out.

If he were to admit to doing it, he would get more games than Ridley.

I'm talking about the time he punched a woman before he was drafted. I know they can't use that against him here but it speaks to a guy who clearly has no issue with violence against women.

The NFL's burden of proof is presumably different than the laws. In many cases, charges are never filed because the prosecutor can't find enough evidence to prove something happened beyond a reasonable doubt. That doesn't mean the event never happened.

Like I said, I get why he won't see probably more than 6,7, or 8 games but I disagree with how the NFL handles some suspensions over others and where their priorities are in terms of player behavior.

Yeah, the one who hit him in the face first.
