Za'Darius Smith had a roster bonus that became guaranteed on Friday. Unless a trade is in the works, it looks like he'll be on the roster next year.

The potential of keeping Za'Darius Smith is pretty interesting. I thought the signing of Marcus Davenport meant Smith would be gone but now I'm wondering if Davenport will be an upgrade on DJ Wonnum. Davenport has never played more than 532 snaps in a season. He's never even played a full season. Last year DJ Wonnum played 562 snaps (48%). Our pass rush was nonexistent whenever Hunter or Smith were out of the game. Wonnum stinks and so far Patrick Jones hasn't shown any promise in limited snaps. With a secondary full of question marks it makes a lot of sense to beef up the pass rush. Pass rush packages of Hunter/Smith/Davenport could be lethal. You can keep those guys on some sort of a rotation so at least 2 of them are on the field at all times. That keeps them fresh throughout the game and as the season goes along.

Thielen is a Panther. I appreciate everything he gave to this team and wish him nothing but the best, except for when the Vikings travel to Charlotte this year.

According to Doogie the Vikings have had casual conversations with Mecole Hardman

Sounds like the money the Vikings saved by trading Smith and the eventual cash from moving on from Cook will go towards extensions for Danielle Hunter and T.J. Hockenson.

Love Hunter. Dude is an absolute beast but I'm not sure I'd commit crazy money to him with how often he's hurt.

He's well past the neck injury and the pec he tore was a freak injury. Got his arm caught and if I remember correctly a Dallas OL basically landed on it. He proved last year he's over the injuries and still a beast. Pay him.

im sure extending hock, jj and hunter should not effect this years cap. because they will get signing bonuses that will be spread out over the life of the contract. hocks will kick in next year . jj will see an increase as will hunter. after the vikes trade or keep cook with some savings on hunters deal the vikes should be about 30 some mill under the cap. it will take about 3 mill to sign the rest of the draft picks. that could land about 3 more players on the team. an o line man a de and a dt, lb or cb. sorry i dont post much here any more but it looks like im not the only one. well skol and catch yawll later.
