a few? Please.
And people want to defund the police because their budgets are inflated, their techniques do nothing to create a peaceful environment in the urban communities, and "de-fund" simply means take some of those funds, and create neighborhood watches, community centers for troubled kids, and we could also create groups of professionals that are actually good at what police aren't, like:
1. mental illness calls
2. disturbance calls
3. homelessness
4. domestic disputes
5. many other non-violent calls
The police attempting to reform themselves never works. Their entire rules of engagement needs to be stripped down, and built back up. They go from 0-violent over literally any resistance or push back. They end up creating violence by using violence where it isn't needed. De-funding would also remove a ton of calls involving people of color, who we KNOW cops have minimal to no patience with.
Anywho, this post will go nowhere, but the police absolutely have more than a few bad apples, they have an entire culture of violence, targeting minorities, and are protected like Arjen Rudd in Lethal Weapon 2 with their ******** qualified immunity.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Hello????
Cops and how many they are have nothing to do with school funding. It was used as an example of reform for teachers not for a direction to be spoken of with issues that may or may not be there for the police.

No what a lot of the left believe is that the rich have been given significant break after significant break in respect to what they should be paying in relation to what they're earning. That's absolutely true when you look at capital gains taxes, corporate tax structures, and all the tax loopholes that exist for higher earners.
There is plenty of evidence (more of your kryptonite) that suggests trickle down economics doesn't benefit anyone but those who make the most income.

Didn't say that but nice try.
My point is that there have been plenty of boom periods in the last 40 years yet the median wage has hardly changed and the spending power behind real wages hasn't moved since the 1970s. If the rich are so generous with their money, why has the wealth gap increased and why do they control more of the world's wealth now than they did 30, 40, and 50 years ago?
We both know you wont attempt to answer those questions btw.

Some of the replies here are actual evidence that we need to invest in education by properly paying our teachers and getting politicians out of culture war talking points like CRT.
The middle and lower class is what keeps this country running. The bootsuckers, I mean republicans, who constantly support wealth hoarders think that they are the saviors for our economy. Without the 1000s of workers at each of these corporations, greedy bums likes Musk, Bezos, etc. would have nothing. They rely on workers to drive the economy.
But then again, this is something that would have been taught in schools if not for republicans constantly fighting about fake crap like CRT and vilifying the entire profession.
And yet overwhelmingly the poor communities that they supposedly destroy dont want them defunded. While middle class white people who live in the suburbs want to defund them.
Id really love for you to explain who should be called in these instances. Because if the answer is ever social workers, youll find they arent interested.
This is so bland and lacking any detail. What do you mean by domestic disputes? Who should deal with those?
How are these non violent calls??
Theres no proof any of what youre suggesting will result in better outcomes.

we know without a doubt the police reforming themselves doesn't work either. So what now?
