who exactly is controlling what we teach again? https://www.yahoo.com/news/florida-b...210142306.html
Hint: it sure as hell isn't the Democrats
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Not so ironically, Florida is 2nd to last in teacher salary when adjusted for cost of living.

additionally, Florida suffers from the worst teacher shortage

DeSantadouche keeps playing the culture war, so Florida's education system will keep ticking downward

as it turns out, not paying them well, then continuing to change what they are allowed to teach, or even say about themselves in general, can be CONFUSING! Add these up, and it's not an appealing job, despite having 2 huge universities that have excellent education programs inside the state.

You mean introducing legislation that made parents far too involved in curriculum, potentially punishing teachers for talking about their private lives in class and rejecting African American studies in school would stop teachers from wanting to be employed there? This can't be. Its almost like the party of less government is completely full of **** when it comes to education, reproductive rights, etc.
Like I said before DeSantis is dangerous because he's far more embattled in the culture war than many of his counterparts and isn't the complete moron Trump is.

Wants teachers to engage in "patriot" training.

Nate, your state sucks.
Yep. The problem isn't that states are banning critical race theory (something that isn't being taught in the schools). The problem is the way they have to write the law is so vague as to ban anything that even mentions race. Race, for better OR WORSE) has had a strong impact on many people in this country and to pretend it didn't just doesn't teach our history. People are being taught a false history and then we expect things to get better...you know what they say about folks who don't learn their history...
I have a question for Republicans. If you care so much about things like gay teachers, child grooming, and drag shows.
Why is their no outrage for child beauty pageants?
Youre vehemently opposed to a teacher mentioning theyre married to someone of the same sex? But youre ok with the blatant sexualuzation of children?
I just dont buy that people care about 95% of this stuff.
I will tell you from direct experience that the last thing teachers want is more useless "professional development" meetings. In this case, it would be a hyper political, nationalist, almost nazi-like training in whatever the old white dudes deem to be "patriotism".
And this CRT thing just reveals how absolutely ignorant and stupid the republican party is. There is no critical race theory course in K-12 schools. They are latching on to the name of a college course because it allows them to say that American history should be whitewashed, including the removal of lessons having to do with slavery, the civil rights movement, racism, the KKK, and modern day inequalities.
And then there was this quote:
Spokesmen for the state’s largest teachers’ unions condemned the proposed legislation.
“If you were to look at curriculum for Missouri schools, you would not see any mention of critical race theory,” Todd Fuller, a spokesperson for the Missouri State Teachers Association, told CNN. “CRT debate takes away from the real issue Missouri is facing: how do we keep and retain quality teachers? If we don’t have teachers to teach, curriculum will be the least of our problems.”
Missouri needs to focus their efforts on keeping quality teachers in the classroom, which includes restructuring their salary scale. But having untrained, unqualified, and ignorant republican politicians interfering with their day to day work is also a major deterrent to remaining in the profession.
