Yeah, but wouldn't that coach want to be the one who drafts that qb? Sort of the chicken and egg dilema.

I'm not letting DZ off the hook either. Whatever one thinks of DC, the fact is that we should have gotten value for him even if we didn't want him ... giving him a no-trade was stupid and put the team over a barrel. It also wasn't smart to trade for Adams AND sign both Renfrow and Waller to extensions; there's only so many balls to go around. The Jones signing was a big waste of money too. No matter how you look at it, there's been some terrible asset management. It remains to be seen if the drafting is going to be improved.

And what happens if you don't draft the franchise QB? If it were that easy, every team would have one.

I'm with stork on this one, a good organization can build a strong team ... yes you still need a QB at some point, but no QB would have saved us the last 20 years from the kind of incompetence this organization has demonstrated.

Could not agree more. The whole franchise (I hate that word) has been poor top to bottom for far too long. I feel like we've all been so burned in the past that we can't see a clear way forward and when things get rolling they're not given enough time to develop.

I know I'm holding out for a saviour to move things back towards relevance. But we need a solid team that grows and develops together.

Ideally yes. But if we’re taking about the top 2 QBs in a draft… not many coaches wouldn’t want to coach them.

“A good organization can build a strong team”. How do they build it? By drafting talented players? I’ve always said we need to improve drafting. So that’s been my point. Storks been saying QBs like stidham and McGloin can win it all if the team has a great attitude. Is this what you agree with?

As far as drafting a franchise QB, obviously it’s not that easy. Most drafts aren’t as strong as next year is projected to be. And obviously it’s never a guarantee… but the odds are better with a high draft pick in a strong QB draft.

Bottom line… if you want sustained success you need both, a well run organization that puts talent on the field at all positions. AND an elite QB. Not one or the other.

I would feel a lot better with Stidham as our back up. Then Hoyer... I might even feel better with him over JimmyG

If you don’t have a high caliber QB you don’t win Superbowls.

If you don’t have a talented QB you are not consistently competitive.

Many factors go into the game but without that key role being solid… you stand little to no chance.

I think the game experience factored into that decision. Can't get a feel for Stidham based on 2 games. But you have to think if there were chemistry, or if they told him he wasn't going to be the starter, otherwise I think he would have stayed. Just wondering what kind of influence Josh had on these guys.

Sorry… what you said was “I wanted to roll with McGloin a decade ago…Stidham and Minshew just a couple months ago. Pretty sure you’re confused about my take.”

You’ve also said you’re a win it all or nothing guy. So I can only infer that if these are your choices, you think we can win it all with them. Otherwise… why would you want to roll with them?

Glad we agree that you put words in my mouth. It’s a bad habit.

    Haha… right…

So clear that up for me stork. Why would you want to roll with those guys if you didn’t think they could win a superbowl? I mean… you keep saying you’re only happy with a superbowl. I’m still a little confused.
