For a reason…because there’s questions if he’s even close to worth that money. Always been suspected as an empty-numbers type. You think he’s the guy that gets us to legit contender?
I’m not sure of that at all. I don’t think I’d like the odds. Unless it’s for a small cost, which I doubt
However, the second, deeper possibility every front office will be whiteboarding, is what happens with Luka Dončić. Even before this trade happened, execs I talked to on my road trip this past week, who were given anonymity so they could speak freely, were openly wondering if adding Irving could create a last-straw type situation that ends up pushing Dončić to seek the exits … much as happened with James Harden in Brooklyn.

Stephen A. Smith: I'm hearing Kevin Durant is on the verge of potentially being moved... the Celtics are interested
Christopher Lavinio: “By the way I’m hearing that he’s [Kevin Durant] on the verge of potentially being moved. Obviously we’ve all been speculating about that…that he may be moved. I’m hearing Boston is making some calls. Keep your eye on Jaylen Brown. Keep your eye on that.” – @stephenasmith on FT – via Twitter
If Boston will trade Jaylen Brown then we cannot compete with that. I know they offered him once before but I figured maybe they felt it was best to keep their championship core together now.
All depends what BK wants though - picks to rebuild or pieces to stay competitive.

It’s possible. Question is, how confident are they in that? And would they gamble on it, or taking a bigger guaranteed return?
What really makes it a wildcard, is he likely won’t extend anywhere until after the season, as an all-nba nod would make the numbers a lot bigger. And if he gets that, it would have to be with Boston, which then means he can’t be traded right away, I think. So if he’s leaving, any extensions likely don’t happen until after next season, where he could get at least a normal max extension

Can’t see Boston making a trade of this magnitude in the midst of a title run with the best record in the league.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports the Jazz may have interest in acquiring Obi Toppin from the Knicks.
