    Lol time to retire.

The smoke was always there that this was not normal. Called it last year.
At this rate I bet he sits out next year too and plays his contract year.

You can thank DeMar’s turnovers for that.

This team in a nutshell. Well done, AKME.

Just amazing. They kept it close after that at least, but it should have been a win after building that lead. Just play good defense and smart offense, two things this team is often allergic to.

Is this team the dumbest vet team ever?

I think it is a purely coaching issue. Sure some guys lack bball IQ but a team with this much of the same core in year 2 should look a bit smoother.

Partly a coaching problem but these guys still play like rookies and most are 5+ year vets. Inexcusable

Yeah there’s no way it’s all on coaching. Billy D had his OKC team playing great in the bubble. It’s a team make up issue and I think he more so lost the team a while ago

The problem is this roster is the antithesis of modern NBA construction. Look at every great team in the league right now.

They can all shoot threes at an efficient and high clip. We can’t. Especially without Lonzo.

They all have two-way players across the roster and especially usually their best players are two-way as well. All of our best players are net negatives on defense basically every night.

They have athletic wings. We don’t.

It’s relatively simple. It’s a roster destined to fail unless they’re perfectly clicking on all cylinders. As you can see, they haven’t been at that level since Lonzo got hurt.

Is Billy a top coach? No, but I think he’s dealing with a really awkward roster devoid of two-way talent. I don’t put too much blame on him personally.

We had our chances to draft the right guy multiple times and we didn’t. I was ok with the Lauri pick at the time. 2018 I wanted to bring in Mikal Bridges to give us an elite wing defender and efficient shooter. The perfect compliment to play alongside a guy like Lavine. 2019 I wanted a trade back with the Celtics and to take Brandon Clarke and Grant Williams. 2020 Haliburton was the obvious choice at PG.

    PG Haliburton
    SG Lavine
    SF Mikal Bridges
    PF Lauri

    BN Clarke
    BN Williams

We would have needed to find a Center still, but with Clarke and Grant Williams off the Bench, that would have gave us perfect depth and versatility. Not to mention if we built properly through the draft, we would have had boatloads of money to chase a C and to fill out our bench. I would have loved that young group.

Chicago bulls 2022-2023 nba season dec/jan

Not taking Haliburton is the toughest one. I get swinging on upside with Williams, but Haliburton had such a high floor coming out and his upside was clearly underrated in the pre draft process.

Pat was the ultimate smartest guy in the room syndrome pick. He didn’t even start in college. He didn’t play at a big school. Didn’t have the mental/dog mentality. Halliburton is dominating…and they desperately needed a PG. Just awful
