    Offseason

What would you guys like to see happen? Or what do you think will happen.

I would like to see us get Contreras and then a bug left handed bat.

Front office said they want to get a catcher and get a LHH. I don't think they are going to be in on Judge, Boegarts, or Correa.

If it were me I would probably sign Trea Turner, Andrew Benintendi, and trade for Sean Murphy while adding some solid SP options, and snag Andrew Chafin and a solid late inning RP guy. Then wait until next trade deadline to see if we need another OF option if O'Neill is always on the IL or Carlson does not produce.

    C: Murphy
    1b. Goldie
    2b: Edman/Donovan
    SS: Turner
    3b Arenado
    LF: Benintendi/Donovan
    CF Carlson/Benintendi
    RF O'Neill
DH Yepez, Gorman (if not traded)

    Bench
    Nootbar
    Knizner
    Burleson
    Donovan
    DeJong

Catcher and a SP would be my priority.

Doubt we get one if the big SS but who knows

I would take Swanson as SS. He is cheaper then the other SS free agents but still an upgrade.

    Trade for Murphy as catcher.

Resign Quintana as a 4th SP.

    RF Nootbar
    SS Swanson
    1B Goldy
    3B Arenado
    LF O’Neil
    DH Yepez
    CF Carlson
    C Murphy
    2B Edman

I'm starting to doubt our chances on Murphy. I think Houston end up with him.

If we miss out on Murphy I think we end up with Vasquez or Contreras.

I'd be on board with the dansby swanson add. As long as we don't have to go overboard on years for the contract.

Not sure who the lefthanded hitter is that they'll look to add.

Really like the rumors of us brining Quintana back.

I am getting the sense that if we trade for Murphy the surplus money will go to a "bigger" FA signing. I think I heard Swanson's name thrown around on the rumor mill. Boegarts and Correa are going to command more even though their bats would definitely help more in the middle of the lineup. If we sign Contreras then I think we sign some middle tier hitters (though I read we made a three year offer at the AAV he wants but did not include a 4th year that Contreras wants)

I can see the Cardinals signing Contreras and then pivot to LHH like Michael Brantley or David Peralta on a 1 yr or w/ an option.

I am fine with Contreras or Vazquez but I think Benintendi would be a good LHH for our lineup. Would slot real well in the 2nd spot and bump Goldie and Arenado down to 3 and 4 in the lineup. I think signing Quintana is a no-brainer. I think I saw a Derrick Goold tweet in which there is mutual interest in resigning. Carlos Rondon is looking for a 6 yr deal which I think the Cardinals walked away from right away. I am thinking the more SP we sign the better and go with a 6 man rotation next year especially with injury histories to Flaherty and Matz.

Glad we didn't bite the bullet on taking a LHH flier on Bellinger. 1 yr at 17m is quite steep. Saw some chat boards mentioned taking a flier on Joey Gallo for the bench/potential DH start but not sure about that.

Whatever money we don't spend on FA is then going to be be pivoted over to extensions for current players.

Well one of the things I wanted to see happened actually did. We got contreras. I like the move and the price tag. We got a solid catcher and more power in the lineup than we had compared to last year. I got a feeling MO is rolling with DeJong. Final year on his deal and they said they aren't ready to move on from him.

Unfortunately after Edman and Donovan, the only other major league ready SS we have is DeJong. We are going to have to eat the 9m he is getting this year and decline the team option for next year. Unless the Cardinals sign a guy like Elvis Andrus then he is going to be our bench and possibly starting SS for 2023.

Yeah I mean we all know how MO works though. If he isn't ready to throw the towel in on his guy he's going to keep plugging him in. I'd much rather start another guy like Swanson. We've had calls for DeJong but MO didn't like what the teams were wanting to do.

Saw some rumblings that the Cardinals may be in on Carlos Rondon. Rondon is looking for 6-7 year deal. Doubt we do anything unless we shorten the deal at higher AAV. Does not seem like the player the Cardinals are going to get in a bidding war on.

Chris Bassitt is still out there whom would be a solid option. Kluber, Syndergaard and Cueto could be an option on shorter deals

Yeah we need to grab a starter still. Mikolas, Waino, Flaherty, and Montgomery are all free agents after the year. Between these 4 and Matz, someone will be hurt and we’ll need other starter over Hudson/Liberatore

Yeah that's a good move for them. If we would have spent the money on him I would have been ok with it but would rather have pitching or sign someone like Jean Segura.
