uses your own numbers the difference in AAV is about 12m apart..no one said anything about the total value of the contract. 2 very different types of contracts, One's a band aid, the other is an investment. Really, the Yanks pay way more attention to AAV than they do about overall value. Which is why the Yankees rarely ever

As far as Torres goes, it's incredibly unlikely that the resign Judge, Sign Rendon and keep Torres. Right now they are already over the 220M mark, Judge takes us to 260m, Rodon takes us to 285-290. Still need a LFer and BP help. It would be shockingly out of character for Hal to exceed the 290m threshold and pay 90%on the LT bill

Another option if they are signing Rodon, would be trading Sevy and his 1yr 15M. Teams would be lineup for him at that price. Unless Sevy has a Cy young yr or takes another very team friendly extension, they are very unlikely to retain him anyways

I've seen it all now. You're advocating for a 40 yr old 1 season removed from TJS, all while being concerned about a pitcher reaching 200 IN. AND you're ok paying him the 3yr 120m??

ditto. Took the words out of my mouth. The only thing I might add, with an arm that is likely to fall off at any moment.

verlander history has been a lot more healthier then rodon and of all the great seasons of his career last year was probably his best i will gladly take a chance with him it gives the yankees a real ace and it weakens the astros.. yanks are a win now team with judge if they resign him and cole getting no younger go for it ..

who would you rather have verlander or rodon the answer is obvious verlander all the way!!

it seems a lot of yankees fans have no interest in winning a world series.. it been 14 years enough with minor moves time for action sign verlander resign judge sign trea turner ...other than that unless the youngsters turn into superstars we are not winning anything next year even if they bring judge back

Not quite so obvious. Lesser of evils. Rodon is 10 years younger for what it's worth. Imo that is significant.

Buster Olney ESPN (behind pay wall...sorry): Regarding Judge negotiation, Cashman is "emotionless in these situations," said one agent. "They made their evaluation ... about the market value [of Judge], and they're not going to deviate much. Now, ownership could get involved, and then emotion could be brought into it."

Do you watch baseball? seriously? who many pitchers in the last 20yr were #1 starter from ages 40-43? he's asking for 3yr 130m, 3yr130M for ages 40-43... end of discussion

It isn't good when you bring emotion into it.

Oh I agree completely. Cashman is all business, but it's Hal the businessman who may bring emotion to the table. That statement just struck me as odd.

verlander is unique he takes good care of himself he has been dominate last year at 39 coming back from tommy john he wins the cy young in dominating fashion.. no reason not to believe he wont dominate again this upcoming year..let me guess you prefer a guy who has only been healthy 1 out of the last 4 full seasons in rodon?

I get it from a business/marketing standpoint. As a fan, I only care about winning though, which is why I wouldn't pay him what he's asking for.
