People around the Yanks are saying this is by for the most they have seen of Hal and he desperately wants to change the narrative around the Yanks. All those people are telling me that they expect Hal do go into the 270-290m range for this yr. He want fans to know if the Dodgers and Mets can have a payroll approaching 300m.
They have 75m coming off the books next yr, so that payroll figure would likely be 1yr
Hal wants the 3 kids, Volpe, Peraza and Cabrera being big parts of next yr. I'm being told those 3, Arias and Spencer Jones are the only untouchable spec, unless it's for a TORP of star position player well under 30 and more than 1yr of control. I won't believe it till i see it, but from what he's telling people Peraza, Volpe and Cabrera will all be in a competition for 2nd base and SS in ST. Whoever wins will get the job out of ST
I'm excited by this new, It seem when Japanese 1st baseman and HR king Murikami comes stateside, the will be there top target whenever he's available. Even if it's next yr, they believe they could trade RIzzo and not have to eat any money. Murikami is said to want to play in the biggest market to capitalize on his fame, No better place than NYC. Expect the Yankees to be the top bidder for him when he comes over. They believe bringing him in would add 100m plus to their bottom-line and he's the perfect age to be a part of a "new core'
Cabrera is 22, Peraza 21, Volpe 21, Dom just turning 20, Jones is 21 and Murikami is 22. U add a couple pitchers and thats a hell of a core.
Gil is back throwing and has refined a CB and CU, so he could be a rotation option early next yr
