Dems are Pleased with Midterm Results

For the last two years, the Dems have been doing this pathetic dance that fools no one (with any intelligence).

They say they couldn't pass the legislation they wanted even tho' they controlled the House, Senate and the White House because of two Dem senators: Sinema and Manchin

Where there's a Will there's a Way. And there was no will in the Democratic party to fight Sinema's and Manchin's blocking of legislation.

The Way would have been what any party leaders do to to keep their members in line: Cut off every nickel of funding to them by the party and threaten to spend a fortune on primary-ing them in the next election. This was never done to Sinema and Manchin. The reason: the Dems were more than happy NOT to pass legislation that would help the general public against the wishes of their masters, the 1%. Sinema and Manchin would have caved in a heartbeat as feeding at the party trough is what all of these political whores in congress live for.

The reason that the Dems are pleased with the outcome of the midterms is that they don't have to do this fake idiot dance making believe they can't control Manchin and Sinema any more.

Now that the Republicans own the House, the Dems have an easy peasy built in excuse: It's the Republicans. Done.

There is still a large part of the idiot Democratic base who still buy this BS dance apparently. What fools they are!

Interestingly, Manchin actually came out with a whole lot more pork to take home as a direct result of his intransigence.

Whether this was intentional on the part of the Democrats, I don’t know — I think not — but in any event, LBJ’d probably be turning over in his grave to see how politically flaccid his party’s leadership has become.

Acting like legislation like the CHIPS Act, the Infrastructure bill, and gun legislation (I believe it to be an extremely weak bill but the fact that they got Republicans to vote for it is remarkable) didn't happen. Then there's lesser discussed but still incredibly important bipartisan legislation. Republicans have long talked about how the Uyghur are being abused in China and we needed to do something. Guess what Biden did, he signed a bill that barred any product made with Uyghur slave labor from being imported into this country. He made Juneteenth a federal holiday to honor the date of true independence for roughly 1/6th of the country.

Sure some of the more partisan legislation that I would love to see didn't get signed. But the notion that he hasn't done anything is...well the word ignorant is the exact right word.

No, it isn't entirely ignorant or ignorant in itself. It's a matter of what one expects from the Democrats. It's a half-empty or half-full argument.

Exactly. In a perfect world it wouldn't be, but people like to ignore the electoral realty of the different states. The fact that there's a blue seat in WV is crazy; the fact that it's a weak blue like Manchin shouldn't be terribly surprising because, again, WV.

It's hard to believe that West Virginia was one of the bluest states in the nation just 20-25 years ago. Now it's one of the reddest. Manchin is just a holdover from those older times. His replacement (whenever that is) will be a Republican, unfortunately.

The best thing for Manchin can be to become the 51st senator. Now they can do a wink and a nod when he votes against stuff the Dems want.
