They already told Segura to take a hike (thought it's not like he'd be getting in the way of a player of Turner's pedigree). I've been kinda thinking that's where Turner ends up too fwiw.

Though many Giants fans seem to have what I see as very unrealistic expectations for FA acquisitions, I don't see them backing the Brinks truck up for any of the available players (maybe an outside shot at Correa or Rodon). I'd guess they make some more conservative moves like signing a few players in the Abreu, Bassitt, Rogers, and Clevinger price bracket.

SS and lead off hitter. Too much sense.

We have a trade to announce. I think you'll all want to hear this..

The Texas Rangers have acquired right-handed starter Jake Odorizzi and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for left-hander Kolby Allard, the teams announced Wednesday night, just hours before the official start of free agency.

The Astros getting to destroy this guy a few times a year on the mound is going to be glorious. He really didn't pitch that horribly in Houston, but he was the worst of a stellar rotation, his contract was so bad he got traded for Will Smith and it's kind of a known fact he was a tool in the clubhouse.

Literally have no clue what the Astros do in the offseason, but it's interesting to me that they still haven't locked down a deal with James Click yet. It's kind of well known that Click clashed with Dusty at times (who's back) and that Crane wasn't thrilled with his lack of a big offseason splash this year. But he's done a good job not screwing up a good thing when he took over for Lunhow and he's made a few nice moves, mainly to add arms to the bullpen.

If there was another Lunhow-caliber guy out there, I'd say make the gamble. But I think he's done enough to deserve to come back.

In terms of personnel, the crazy thing is the Astros could lose Verlander and actually get better, IMO. Their current rotation is seven guys deep and their seventh best guy would be a No. 3 or 4 in some rotations. I'd love to have Justin back, but at the right price. For $40M+ a year, they could add an impact bat at two of their key position needs (1B, CF, C or DH). I'd love to see them make a run at guys like Nimmo, Contreras, Bell, etc. I could also see them deal an impact arm like Urquidy or Garcia for another bat. And I could also see them mostly running it back, bringing back vets like Brantley, Yuli and Vasquez and using the money to extend guys like Tucker, Javier and Valdez.

What they ultimately do with Click and Verlander will decide the rest of the offseason, but bottom line, they should still be really damn good next year.
