Just thought we could use a place for rumors, news either Yankees or other teams related.
First big off season rumor. Blue Jays are all in on Ohtani and putting together a massive offer that includes Manoah, Bichette and their top 2 specs

Clowns thread, IMO, has to do with what we need to do to fix our team. This was created for all rumors, news and notes from around baseball. We're going to be talking rumors and news around the MLB. I think having 1 thread to discuss Yankees issues, who comes back, who stays, who we want, ect and this one for everything else keeps the 2 subjects separated
I'll gladly delete this thread or change the title if everyone thinks that we should only have 1 off season thread for everyone and everything.
All good. I don't think keeping separate non-yankees threads along with Yankees threads is a bad thing. But, I think splitting Yankees off season discussion is a little unnecessary, unless it's big news. But, just my opinion.

Yep, gave up our 3 best LHed starters, so stupid.
Looking at that FA list, there isn't much on it that gets me excited. IMO, Benny should 100% be signed. 1000% have to resign Judge.
Even with Rizzo opting out, it isn't because he wants to go somewhere else, he just wants a bit of a raise. We'll put the QO on him and i'm sure he'll be back on a 1-2yr deal. I honestly believe based on what available, Rizzo is a no brainer on a 1-2 yr deal. He'll hit for a much higher avg next yr with the shift being gone. Fangraphs ranked Rizzo as the number 2 player in baseball effected by the shift. Rizzo matched his career high in HR's and is still a plus defender. I'll take him 100% on a 1-2yr deal, with the long term plan of signing Murakami.
Murakami, should 100% be the Yanks long term answer at 1st base. He's just the perfect fit for this team and stadium.
Question for you. We probably need another LH power reliever. I was talking to someone last night and they mentioned Paxton as a possibility. He gets hurt way, way to much as a starter, but his stuff would play way up out of the BP and pitching 50-70 innings a yr, he might stay healthier. Would u take a shot?
One guy I absolutely avoid is DeGrom. He's 35 and when healthy is absolutely a top 2-3 starter, but he's looking for a 4-5yr deal at atleast the same AAV as Scherzer. If he could give you 23-27 starts a yr over that time, I'd sign up for that. The problem being he has even pitched 100 IN in any of the last 3 season and is already on the way wrong side of 30. I just can't take the chance of having that kinda money tied to a huge injury concern. It was bad enough the last 3yrs paying Sevy 10m a season to not pitch, how much worse would it be paying DeGrom 40M + AAV for the next 4-5yrs.
If they are going to target an elite LH starter, I want Rodon. If u could add him, it would easy be the best rotation in BB.
1) Cole who I thought did a hell of a job in the postseason
2) Nestor I think he has proven enough to be called a TORP
3) Sevy IMO he looked as good or better than before he got hurt. The injuries are getting further behind him. If he can keep him healthy, I would expect an ace level season from him next yr
4) Rodon Gives you a power lefty and another TORP. He's also a bulldog on the mound. He might also greatly benefit from having other elite pitchers around him. They would also be able to go with a little load management
5) Montas Yes, he's sucked since coming over, but I don't believe he was ever healthy. I'm not counting on him to be elite, but I believe there is a very good chance if he's healthy he's a much better pitcher than we saw. His stuff and velo we're way off from how he looked in OAK
Then you have German and Schmidt as your 6th-7th starter
Then you have guys like Gil, Beeters, Warren and Y Gomez that should be ready to help at some point
They probably need to get some backend help in the BP. Kahnle is a FA and would be a good fit. I would like to see them get an established, dominate closer, but I don't think you see them drop 20-25m AAV to get Diaz though.
First and foremost though being resign Judge
3 problems with signing Paxton:
1) Paxton pitched to 2 batters last season and went back on the injured list. I have no idea if he is capable of pitching.
2) Paxton is under contract with the Red Sox. He signed a one-year deal for $6 million in 2022 with a two-year option for $26 Million for 2023 and 2024. If the Red Sox decline his option, which they probably will, he then has a player option for $4 million. Since he hasn't pitched more than a few innings in the past two years, why wouldn't he take the $4 million?
3) If after the Red Sox pay him the $4 million, they cut him, then I think he'd play in a smaller market, because he doesn't like the spotlight. Plus, I'm not so sure he isn't still pissed at Boone for pulling him early in his playoff start when he was winning and pitching OK.
If we can get around all that, then who knows. I like Paxton's winning attitude and curveball which might play well out of the bullpen, but it could be a longshot.
All good points, I didn't realize he was signed past this yr.
My thought is maybe not doing all the prep work for a starter might keep him healthier. He always struggled to find that 3rd pitch, but out of the BP that wouldn't matter. He's still got an upper 90 FB that would play up out of the BP and that CB gives him an elite out pitch.
id take him on a milb deal
looks like the dodgers want judge no surprise here mookie betts has said he is willing ro change positions..if you are judge where would you want to play a team like the dodgers who are willing to make themselves world series contenders year in year out or the yankees who have no plan on how to make this team better the answer is obvious..

DJ LeMahieu: “I’d be shocked if [Judge is] not back. But you just never know how that goes. I feel like he definitely wants to be here. But when it becomes a business, it changes a lot
Anthony Rizzo on Aaron Judge’s future:
“I hope it’s in a Yankee uniform, for him and for ⚾️ in general. We’re seeing people jump ship so much … The fitting thing would be for him to do a press conference receiving not only the money he deserves, but also the captain title.”
