As for the alternate plan, it's going to cost significantly more than retaining Judge. Correa is a Boras client and wants to be the highest paid SS and Boras wants to be the hero of the off-season, so with Trey Turner signing for $300 million, there's no way that he signs for less than that. Only dealing with relevant worth, Judge is worth least 1.5 to 2 times that of Correa.. So if Correa and Nimmo is the alternative, then we are looking at $325 million for Correa and $175 million for Nimmo for a total of $500 million. At that point, you might as well give Judge whatever he wants, because $360 million sounds cheap.
Love Rodon either way and once again, due to the inflation caused by Mets and Rangers, $180 million for Rodon for 6 years sounds right.
Reynolds is tricky, because it is going to be costly in terms of prospects. After making the foolish trades that we did at the deadline, the other teams interested in Reynolds have better prospects than we do. Since we have both Peraza and Volpe in our lineup and if we want to keep Dom, then it will be tough, unless we can flip Torres or prospects that we get for him in the deal. Reynolds has 3 years of control, so he will not come cheaply.
An improved backup catcher would be a welcome addition. Don't know what it will cost us, unless we reach down to AAA for Rohrback and that would be OK with me.
Great to know that Hicks will be gone in the next 3-4 days.
