I have to say, it's a bit ****ed of Judge. He's keeping both teams frozen. His lack of timely decision could prevent the Yankees from making moves they need to make either with or without him.

I understand he's earned the right but I am starting to turn against Judge's camp. If he's truly about team first, he would make a choice.

I agree. I mean what is he waiting for. I’m pretty sure everyone knows where they are at this point.

I am not saying Judge should take less, this is going to be his only free agent contract he ever gets most likely. I fully understand wanting to cash in. But at the same time, he has to be realistic and understand that his demanding the richest FA contract in history is going to block the Yankees from adding more guys and making the team better. Hard to demand both.

I don't disagree. This should probably have been dealt with long ago.

I imagine he's a bit torn. On one hand it's the team that brought you up. The Yankee legacy. A plaque in monument park. A retired number. The allure of NYC and more endorsement deals than he can imagine. Being named captain of the Yankees. On the other, going home to family and friends. Returning to ones roots. Entering a comfort zone only he can explain. Possible his wife wants to return to Cali as well?

Either way he's a multi millionaire. I don't think it's ALL about the money. He's getting paid regardless of the uni he chooses. Imo it may be about intangibles. Personal issues. Comfort level. Happy wife? IDK. What I do sense is a desire to win. That is a quagmire for another thread and another day. Suffice to say $40M per and Hal's edict to stay under the "cap" may seriously handcuff the team.

I think this is the big issue for him: happy wife, happy life

Yep. He says he wants them to make the team better now and in the future but how will they do that?

Aaron Judge is the Yankees’ to lose at this point. From what I’ve heard, this isn’t a DeGrom situation, they’ll be allowed final word.

These are Aaron's post season stats. There is no argument whatsoever as far as his monster 2022 regular season, it was magnificent just stupendous!!! Both sides of the ball offense and defense.

However in the playoffs you see much better pitching, he(just like Stanton) can be pitched to.

Two things I hate in contracts
1.6 plus years especially to older players
    2. NMC

anything more than 5 years for this player is extremely risky ,,anything more than 7 is insanity.

Lol cmon clown. Technically the Yankees had 6 years to make a decision. We are starting to get annoyed he’s taken a month and a half?

What decision were they supposed to make?

Guy wasn’t very healthy. They made a fair offer IMO last year. If Judge doesn’t have the year he did, that would have been a reasonable deal

The mistake was talking about it in the press

IMO, you lock him up 9/360 but you front load it. $55 a year for the first 4 years, and then offer an opt out. So his first contract has an AAV of 40 for luxury tax purposes, but he makes 220 in the first 4 years. Now, he would only be making 28 a year if he decided not to opt out, so chances are he wants to opt out/restructure. You restructure the deal to 5/160. Judge gets 4 more million a year, but the Yankees now reduce the AAV to 32 million.

Judge ends up making 380 over the course of the deal and the Yankees have an AAV of 40 for 4 years and then 32 for the last 5. It’s a win win for everyone.

That’s my point, they took their time to evaluate what they had. Judge is now taking his time. And again, it hasn’t been that long!

He probably knows already what he’s doing, he’s just hoping someone makes the other side bump the offer. If it’s really about winning, he would let the team know

I’m not saying if it’s about the cash, he’s wrong. But that doesn’t seem to be the impression that’s been given
