Defensively, the skillset is much better than advertised. They know they can improved the arm strength, the speed and athleticism is there. He was a very good CFer in college , but now I guess he doesn't get the best reads, jumps and needs to work on routes. All those things can be significantly coached up and apparently this kid is a worker. Also if u have Judge if RF and Bader in CF, it's hard to imagine a young player doesn't get better playing next to those 2. Hell, Cabrera was a GG caliber defender in RF after 5 games, the can coach McCarthy up.

He 25 and if they are going to go with someone with flaws, I'd rather trade Wells and Pereira for this kid, vs spending 18+M on some of the other options
He played in 82 games last season, so does that make him a platoon. I'd still take him and his .283 average and hope he turns into Paul O'Neil who platooned before we got him. I remember people hating on the Roberto Kelly, a great fielding CF, for O'Neil, a LH corner OF who stepped in the bucket against LH pitchers. That was long before he hit .359 and led the league. This could be history repeating itself.

sounds like they are after BP arms. I wouldn't trade Lo, Holmes or King but I could see a deal with Marinaccio and Gil plus a spec or 2??

I really like this kids tools profile and makeup. I could see this kid coming here and becoming a much better

I sure like they idea of this kid much better than the idea of Brantley, Yoshida or Bellinger

What about a deal with the Brewers for Yelich where they pay down that contract plus Corbin Burnes. Obviously, it depends on how much prospects we have to give up for that contract to be worth it. Its horrendous. Plus, I think Yelich was a product of that juiced ball a few years back along with Torres. But stick him in LF with that lineup around him and he could be a 30/30 player again. This deal is more for Burnes who I think will price himself out of the brewers price range. Will help the brewers get out from Yelichs money too.

Thats been discussed and the Brewers aren't interested in doing that for Burnes. They rightfully think he's one of the best starters in BB. The amount of specs it would take to get Burnes would be more than what Seattle gave for Castillo.. Even with Yelich attached, they would still expect a huge return.

Woodruff is far more likely to be moved with Yelich and even then they still expect a significant return. I get the impression they aren't in a huge hurry to move on from Yelich

This is a 100% rumor but they believe Judge has made a decision and it's expected to be announced by Monday. It sounds like they are fairly confident it's with us and includes a captain offer.. zero clue on the offer. I/m told if its overall value of the contract is something he's looking for, like bigger than 330 which is Harper, that they Yanks would prefer to go an extra yr, vs a higher AAV.

Part of the reasoning is the Yanks have started pursuing more player in tier 2 options in FA and are focused on the trade market

They have remained in contact with Correa and Xander camp.. I think they are hoping one doesn't get the long term deal and would take a short one like Correa did last yr.

They would love to get Rendon but not at the 7y245 m range that is the current ask. They have him as as slightly better Robbie Ray and would be in on him 100%. They are very interested in Senga, which would seem more likely since he's not attached to anything.

All over the OF market , a trade seems like it's becoming a stronger possibility. Here's a question, would rather Flo as your 4th OFer or would you being interest in taking a flyer on Kelnic

Klenic is not rated as a very good defender. Flo is faster and a better defender. Klenic Ks at about the same rate as Flo but Flo takes more walks.

Then again, Flo is going on 26 and Klenic is 23.

I would stick with the known commodity. I roll with Flo

Judge signing on Monday would jump start the winter meetings.

I'd rather have Rodon than Rendon, especially as a pitcher (LOL), but I'd be most happy with Senga and his ghost forkball.

It's a close call between Kelnic and Florial. Neither one makes too much contact at ML level. Kelnic has 21 HRs in 500 ABs which is about 1 season and 56 Hrs in 1100 ABs in minors which is approx 2 seasons. He also batted .295 in the minors and looked like a good hitter, but has only hit .168 in the majors. Florial looks like he has power, had 74 HRs and a .267 avg in 2200 ABs and his fielding looked great in the minors, but in the majors, he has been a .180 hitter. Florial does provide a lot more speed and is a known commodity. I guess I'd go with the devil I know, which is Florial, unless he is out of options and can't be sent up and down, in which case I'd go with Kelnic and hope that he doesn't turn into Joey Gallo 2.0.

If we are looking into the 4th OF market, I would love Belly. I said earlier that he should no way be our starting LF, but as number 4? Hell yea. Defensively great and has speed.

Gotta be all in to sign Cole. I'd love to have him in pinstripes. What do you think that would look like?

Flo has not done anything to really impress me. I'd go another way if it was me.
