One story has him going into the stands and beating a handicapped fan for heckling! BUT he was the most competitive player in history. A person who put winning above all else.

    Not an endorsement of Bellinger.
The issue with Bellinger is he has forgotten how to hit. The BA and K% have been horrible since he won the MVP. He'd be Gallo 2.0 or maybe worse. That said, because of his elite defense I'd give him a 1yr deal and see if they couldn't get the swing fixed and a change of scenery might help as well.

Correa was part of the team that cheated Judge out of an MVP. If Judge can get over that and wants him, I can probably love with it. The other issue with Correa was the question of his value, for me he's not a 30m AAV or 300m plus level player.

Torres isn't a bad player, I don't think anyone is saying that. His BB IQ isn't great and he gives off the impression that he doesn't bust his arse very often. He is also an asset that can make this team better in other ways. If you could get a mid rotation starter or a closer type with multiple yrs of control it makes a ton of sense.

Plus you have a player in Volpe, who is ready, has the skillset we need with the game changing, is a much better defender and is about 9m cheaper. Volpe is very capable of being better on both sides of the ball from day 1. Even if it takes a month for him to adjust, is that really any different that Torres going ice cold like he typically does?

My bad. I thought it was another "character" issue. I don't know Bellinger. Why would the Yankees even consider him if he is that bad? They already have a player who forgot how to hit. Do they really need another?

Bellinger is likely headed to the BJs. I'd take him on a 1yr deal because he can give u elite defense at 4 positions and see if the change of scenery/ new coaches didn't help him fix his swing.

Person/ clubhouse wise,, from what I know he's supposed to be a good dude.

Doc, do you know anything about his stats? They weren’t sick of him as a person, in fact he was almost unanimously loved as a person. They hated his 210 average. They hated he had 150 strike outs and only 100 hits. They dropped him to 8th in their lineup and benched him in the playoffs. Great guy terrible (for the last 3 years) player.

Get off this Torres and Correa kick. That wasn’t even what my post was about

Obviously I don't, don't know the player very well as I mentioned above. I apologize, I misunderstood the post.
    Relax. I meant no offense.

As mentioned above, Why would the Yankees even consider him if he is that bad? They already have a player who forgot how to hit. Do they really need another?

The sack on this dude to call Cole the biggest cheater in baseball history ?? to bad pitchers don't hit anymore, I'd throw one in his ribs for that BS. I would hardly call using sticky stuff worse than guys who used PEDs, what a POS
He had to just want to say a yankee to endear him to his fan base. There’s no way he could actually think that

They’d be interested in bringing him in as a reclaim project. Some on here I believe want him to be the opening day LF. That would be terrible.

Johnny is the only one with the baseball acumen to suggest that.

On a MILB deal with a ST invite, I'd do that. He at least brings speed and GG caliber defense at 4 positions. Even then, with that short porch being so inviting, he might get pull happy and exacerbate the problem

hearing from a very reliable source Hal offered Judge 9yrs 337m or37.4m AAV. Still makes him the highest paid position player in BB

Industry experts expect Judge to listen to offers/pitches from the Giants and Dodgers before the winter meetings, but they don't expect those to go past their pitches

Both Judge and Hal have expressed mutual interest in this not dragging this along and to get a deal done asap. Judge has also promised Hal the Yank will get the final word. So the decision will ultimstely be Hal's. Recently polled front office guys from lats of team have it as 80% or better Judge is coming back. multiple sources around Judge believe that he wants to see Hals commitment to spending more to put better players around him.

I was also told Judge does not want to play with JD next yr. Apparently the rift that the Jackie comment caused quite the rift among the team. Judge was also is very frustrated with Hicks and what Judge viewed as him quitting on the team once he lost his job to Cabrera

Based on the info out there rival executives would be "shocked" if Judge didn't resign with us. That same group of execs polled believe that the Yanks will make a 2nd big ticket signing besides Judge

Execs are saying that the expect the pitching market to heat up the soonest with the position players happening after the winter meeting

We are absolutely in the market for both a starter and a high leverage LHRP, they have already had a meeting with Chaffin

Don't start expecting DeGrom or Rodon because they see DeGrom as an extremely risky investment, especially for 5yrs. Rodon is looking for something along the lines of 7yrs 245M 35m AAV AND they are both tied to QO, so that makes it even more unlikely.

Yanks see Verlander as the best short term, high dollar option because the thought is if the AAV is high enough me would entertain leaving Houston

I was also told that the Yanks hav expressed heavy interest on FA LF/DH Michael Brantley. Brantley feels like a 100% Cashman move. Get the right guy just 4-5 far too late

Yankees goals this winter according to this source are
    1) Judge
    2) Pitching both a starter and reliever
    3) LF
    4) trade as much of Hicks, IKF's and JD''s contract as possible
    5) use Torres as a part of a package to a starter

The Good/Bad news about the rotation is they really like their top 4 of Cole, Nestor, Sevy and even Montas. Montas is saying he hasn't pitched a full strength since coming to the Yankees. Montas has been very committed this winter to work on the thing the Yanks want him to "fix". He working on improving his CU, they changed the grip to more of a split CU and they are reworking his slider to become more of whirly than your typical SL movement. It's also the season he is pitching for a new contract, if hd can get to put up numbers similar to what he did in OAK, mabe pitch to a 3.5 ish era, that would be a big improvement over what we saw

If Montas is anywhere close to as good as he was with OAK, we'll have the best 1-4 in baseball

@dayners81 - thanks for the inside info. I always look forward to these posts. BTW...Brantley does feel like a Cashman move.

I think the Yankees screwed up by letting hm get that far. It may not be up to them but they should have given their best offer but I am sure they kicked around and have left the door open

I would love "Big Country" to be in the bull pen. He's the type of guy I love to see on a team. Just listen to the 2:30-4:30 mark when he talks about his car.l. Dude is very real, very smart an just looks like he would eat this city up!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQgGH4_fYqU

I will be thrilled if we don't have to watch Hicks, IKF or JD next year. I hope they don't do with torres what they did with Sanchez and Gio. If they do move Torres, I really hope it's for a TORP or a devastating bullpen arm or a guy like Reynolds

I am admittedly concerned they even let Judge leave. I think they should have gone in a 8 for 320 and said this is our best offer. I think another team could now offer him that and force the Yankees hand.
If you love it, put a ring on it!!!
