Haha! Man, I don't wanna go down that slippery road. I've got an amazing life here with the Spanish woman of my dreams.
Much as I love baseball, I'm not sure I should go down the slippery slope of an MLB.tv. sub. Tempting, but what am I gonna do when there's a Yankee game on and my girl wants me to take her to get drunk and watch the flamenco?

Okay, let me be clear. I love watching the flamenco. However, spliff pointed out that I could watch the game after flamenco, delayed. She usually goes to bed a couple hours before me (except on flamenco night).
This could be life changing.

That's a long road, brother. Left the US and went to Belgrade, Portugal, then London. After the first lockdown, my woman and I headed for Spain and split time between there and Portugal, until we could decide where we wanted to stay.
We're tucked in to Spain (mostly) but we still spend a bit of time in Portugal and London.
It's a long, long road.

But IKF is the emergency catcher!
All kidding aside, I wouldn't mind them keeping IKF and moving other players. If you had Cabrera and IKF as your utility payers, you have a ton of speed and athleticism and two guys who can put the ball in play.
Add to that, it's two guys who can play every spot except pitcher between them. (Cabrera took reps at C to try and learn)

However, the issue you encounter is DJ. I think the Yankees need to move JD and IKF.
If Volpe ends up ready out os ST or during the year? Torres or DJ need to go.

It's a very, frustrating roster. At the end of this year, it opens up with the contracts of JD, IKF. Bader ending and Torres having only 1 year of control left.
Torres and Bader are fantastic trade chips but they would need to use them during the year to have value. If the Yankees are even sniffing a playoff spot, they won't be doing that. They will sadly do the opposite and trade of a ton of youth to get a piece or two to make a playoff run.

My feeling is, this is the worst scenario.
1-You likely give up assets you will need the next year.
2-That will likely be for a rental. Maybe you get lucky and get a good player for a couple years. Maybe you get dragged into a deal where you take on a horrible contract.
3- You are still stuck with making those same choices the next year. That turns into the IKF extension, The 5 year deal for Bader and gives Torres a ton of leverage in his walk year. Or you let them go and have to fill roles externally.


What does this mean? I am coming to the terrifying realization that if Flo doesn't take the LF job, which it doesn't look like he will, we as fans have to root for Hicks. If hicks can hit 250/330 Ops 750+, he will be a huge upgrade in the offense.
The safety of the farm, largely relies on LF

This is of course presuming a fairly, healthy year.

The problem with rooting for Hicks to have a great year is if he DOES have a great year, our crack GM will sign him to an extension

So what you're saying is I have to develop a phone-below-the-table technique where I can catch highlights during the applause and costume changes while my girl is speaking Spanish with the locals. That could work.

I do it. I will be out with my wife, dinner party, restaurant, music venue... I will check a score and situation. If needed, I find a quick quiet spot and give a watch. She knows. She's totally fine as long as it isn't more than a couple minutes.
Example-
You get an alert that bases are loaded in the bottom of the 7th with 1 out and Judge is up? Maybe quick trip to tinkle?

Now if we are out and about and it's something SHE wanted to do? If I am there and at least pretending to enjoying myself, she will sit me in the corner like a 4 year old and say, "go ahead, watch your game." (I am guessing that similar to Brazilian women, you need a bit of permission for certain things. It's always best to hedge that bet. )

She knows if she does that, no matter what the outcome, I return more social. lol

Years ago, I dated a Flamenco/Tango dancer from Colombia. Watching things with her or her, changed my perspective on those dances. It went from, "Ok, this is cool". To "Holy ****. This is awesome". There is a predatorily, dominant to submissive, quality to both. The game within the dance became clear and blew my away
