Could that part of the motivation to sign Rodon? Maybe they like Rodon a 5-6 year deal and trade Nestor for Arraez over keeping Nestor and signing Correa to a mega long-term deal on top of Judge and Stanton?

it makes no sense to trade nestor he is not making much money and is a very good starter..

As much as they are not better than last season, they do have the same base to build on now that Judge and Rizzo are re-signed. They have a better SS. Everything else is basically the same. Probably a better bullpen. They just need to upgrade LF. If they sign Benintendi they don't need to do anything else. Stick Gleyber at 2b, DJ at 3b, minimize Donaldson's usage. At that point the lineup is pretty solid.

Bullpen - very solid.

Rodon is not going to make or break this team. That lineup is really good though. I'm all for Steinbrenner signing both Benintendi and Rodon, since it's not my money. If I have to pick one though, I'm picking Benintendi.

I'd be okay with signing Rodon trading for a LF, but if that trade involves Gleyber you absolutely must upgrade at 3B or 2B. You can't roll into the season with Donaldson at 3B. Would be pretty happy with Reynolds, or the guy from Arizona.

I think, stupid me, that they are going to take Dom into factor for LF. If they make a long term move, they may as well use Dom to get a guy like Reynolds. Dom isn't a CFer in the MLB and u have Judge locked into RF and already full time DH. They either go short term with a Happ, Conforto or a Brantley with your eye towards Dom taking the job in 24 or you go long term, then Dom has zero future here. I think they use him to get Reynolds for 3yrs, but it won't surprise me one bit if they stop gap LF like they did SS. I really don't hate the idea of Happ for 1yr

reynolds makes the most sense for the yankees.. his contract is cheap plus he can hit 30 home runs at yankee stadium. do what it takes to get him..

I would not hate signing him, if they can get rid of Hicks. Could be a cheap solid pick up. Shoulder injuries are certainly concerning though and he is a boras client.

Before Conforto got hurt last year and had a down season in 2021, he had 4 consecutive 120 wRC+ seasons with the Mets including 2 years where he was nearly 50 percent better offensively than the average LFer.

Reynolds is cheap in terms of salary but he's going to cost a ton in terms of prospects.

Boras was so salty about Judge stealing the show at the meetings, I wouldn’t be surprised if he drags out the Carlos’s for a while.

He wanted Judge to get $400 million so it would have helped Carlos’ deal out….

Yanks need to just do the 2009 signing spree. I just sign Rodon and Correa and call it a day. Hal is going to let Steve Cohen take the lead in team payroll????? There is no way George would be allowing this if he were in control today.

Mets are at $320 million. What is the current Yanks payroll?

I think Hicks will be fine in 2023. His timing was just a little off. I expect a career season out of him! Book it!

This is why you need to develop young, cheap talent. A good player cost 20m+ a yr for a long time.

That deal probably gets Benintendi around the same AAV. I just don't see the Yanks signing a LF, they'll go the trade route there. Judge only getting 9yrs is starting to look a lot better

In the end it is only money. If you want that particular player and you feel he improves your squad then sign him. Hal needs to man up and sign Benny. He is still in his prime years. 5/105 would do it. If Judge was allowed to walk Hal would have been banned from Yankee Stadium for life.

Well, you do trade a player at their highest. But I’d keep him. His stuff can play out for 7 more years easily. He moves the ball all over the place. His control is why he is good. And the deception in his delivery as he hides the ball. His 93 heater looks and feels like 98 to the hitters.

You could always trade Benintendi later if you want to give Dom an opportunity. Probably could get a couple of prospects out of the deal too.
