Drob just signed with the Mets for 1/10.

Gonna be weird seeing him in the mets uniform.

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

Reading rumors, saw that maybe MIN would move Luis Arraez. Could we trade for him at 3B and McCarthy in LF? Would add two contact lefties to the lineup.

    3B Arraez (L)
    RF Judge (R)
    1B Rizzo (L)
    DH Stanton (R)
    CF Bader (R)
    SS Peraza (R)
    LF McCarthy (L)
    2B Volpe (R)
    C Trevino (R)

DJ and Cabrera as utility men (1 from each side).

This is why you need to develop young, cheap talent. A good player cost 20m+ a yr for a long time.

That deal probably gets Benintendi around the same AAV. I just don't see the Yanks signing a LF, they'll go the trade route there. Judge only getting 9yrs is starting to look a lot better

Could that part of the motivation to sign Rodon? Maybe they like Rodon a 5-6 year deal and trade Nestor for Arraez over keeping Nestor and signing Correa to a mega long-term deal on top of Judge and Stanton?

You’re thinking too deep. They will sign a few over the hills and boost we had a terrific off season by signing a guy we already had and could have signed for 100 million less last year.

Oh yeah - we also extended our GM to the end of time.

Interesting take. Arraez is only under control for 2 more years though, but he would improve the lineup, although his lack of power scares me. If he has a bad year, he's basically IKF part deux.

As much as they are not better than last season, they do have the same base to build on now that Judge and Rizzo are re-signed. They have a better SS. Everything else is basically the same. Probably a better bullpen. They just need to upgrade LF. If they sign Benintendi they don't need to do anything else. Stick Gleyber at 2b, DJ at 3b, minimize Donaldson's usage. At that point the lineup is pretty solid.

    1. Benintendi
    2. Judge
    3. Rizzo
    4. Stanton
    5. Gleyber
    6. DJL
    7. Bader
    8. Peraza
    9. Trevino

    Rotation
    1. Cole
    2. Nestor
    3. Severino
    4. Montas
    5. Schmidt/German

    Bullpen - very solid.

Rodon is not going to make or break this team. That lineup is really good though. I'm all for Steinbrenner signing both Benintendi and Rodon, since it's not my money. If I have to pick one though, I'm picking Benintendi.

I'd be okay with signing Rodon trading for a LF, but if that trade involves Gleyber you absolutely must upgrade at 3B or 2B. You can't roll into the season with Donaldson at 3B. Would be pretty happy with Reynolds, or the guy from Arizona.
