Yes, I know he's struggled horribly at the plate with the time that he's had at the big league level. It's just surprising to see a team admit defeat and give up so quickly on a guy who was a former top prospect. Usually, they try to save face to some degree and keep them around for at least a couple of years, even at the expense of better players. I was also surprised that he was already out of options.

the options thing surprised me too. he is 24 at this point though. he is running out of time to figure out how to hit. wish there was a way we could get him back into our farm, but that would require trading/claiming him and then getting him through waivers which would be really tough.
and Morton just gave up a home run after nearly giving up a home to devers. I still have a bad feeling about morton.
arcia got a 3 year 7 mill extension with a team option. so the braves get to keep him for 2 mill each of the next few years and if they need to dump him for whatever reason its only 4 million.
they also sent their 2nd top prospect,(after Louisiana brand hotsauce of course) cash considerations for Richard Lovelady who was then sent down to AAA. 27 year old relief pitcher who was perfect in spring training. was pretty decent in 2021 before tommy john in 2022. wouldn't be surprised if after a few injuries we see him on the big league roster.
