Hope. For me, that's what I have right now. It's faith and belief that I don't have. I keep telling myself that he's had almost 2 years to fix his issues, and we're here talking about whether or not he's going to be able to regain some of his old ways. If he hasn't pitched in 9 months, and he's still not able to pitch, that's a problem. It's 1908's belief that it's his mechanics. I'm going to trust his input on this, because personally, I can't tell if a pitchers mechanics are out of wack unless it's severely obvious. Like 1908 mentioned...are his mechanics off because of a bad shoulder, or is his shoulder bad because of poor mechanics?

I'm just going off the data. Velo and movement seem to be pretty consistent. So it doesn't look like he's "lost" anything pitch wise. But there is a strong trend over his last 3 seasons of pitches not being where they were. This coincides with his sharp increase in barrel% and sweetspot%. I'll readily admit; pitching mechanics aren't my bag; I've never pitched, so my baseline is pretty low. But I can read data and the only I can explain that is that there's something mechanically off. It could be release point, could be something with his legs, or his arm dragging...but it looks mechanical.

We'll see. Like I said, I like Kyle a lot as a player and for his sake, I hope he doesn't go out this way. For the Cubs sake it's better if Kyle is good. I hope he can find it again, but sometimes, even though something is fixable, doesn't mean it will be, so I think there's a real chance he never comes back.
