I expect that too. Although like the post above me, I'd prefer to see Precious starting and Trent off the bench. I think to start the season, the competition is Malachi and Banton for that 10th spot. Banton would be the leading candidate for me too.

wouldn't be surprised if he starts "big" considering first game is against the Cavs

Flynn playing for his career this season. He will be given an opportunity to succeed ahead of Banton.

I think the lineup stays the same, but the reality is it plays a lot more like this on offence:
    PG - siakam
    SG - Fred
    SG - Gary
    SF - OG
    C - Barnes

Scottie's role will be interesting. Will he do more of the same as last year with some added responsibility with the ball or will the team hierarchy change altogether and naturally progress to Scottie being a focal point in the offense, much in the same way Siakam has established his role.

I think the latter might a year away but you never know. Fred is willing to take a step back but there is no guarantee that it plays out that way. He also noted that it is a wait and see process. We know OG will have a bigger role but in what way will that happen? There is a lot we will learn from the preseason in terms of how they approach their offense. Although they have an identity on how they want to play, there will still be a lot of experimenting.

“It’s about winning,” Stoudemire said. “You win, you’re going to get on national TV. Simple. In Phoenix, we won — Western Conference finals three, four years, playoffs every year. We won. If you don’t win, nobody really wants to see you.”

Fred is in a contract year isnt he since he can opt out? Cant see him taking a step back willingly.

I thjnk Scottie has a sophomore slump but nothing too bad.

He is. Still possible he signs an extension though that could mitigate that concern. I do also think he knows his value beyond raw numbers that are dictated by volume of shots/usage. He sounds confident that the organization knows how valuable he is to the team too.

I anticipate an extension before the start of the year. I don't think either side is interested in tabling this until the offseason.

I think the max extension is 4 years, 114 million total. Question is: Does FVV feel he is worth more? Do the Raptors feel he is worth less?

I too think it gets done ultimately. I think it is in line with his value. Although I'm guessing FVV feels like he is worth more than Brunson who just signed 4 years, 104 million.

I think he can get more waiting instead of signing extension, which I think he will do (if that is the case).

But you are right about the value/raw numbers. Cant hurt to have both I guess but teams know FVVs value to a team. I team I fear he gets a big offer is Dallas. Seems like a Kidd type of player and would fit beside Luka.

Taking a step back is probably the wrong way to phrase it actually, I meant being less on the ball. His impact will be just as notable but just in a different way.

FVV playing more off ball is for the best. No inbetween game, can't finish inside. But Nurse saying OG might run the floor is kinda out there. Interesting. Makes sense considering Siakam and Scottie are our best options inside and their efficiency inside makes up for plyamaking inefficiency.

Sorry, I was saying I think he will take a step back, not that it was what you had said. Efficiency will go down a bit as teams change defenses on him.
