So the eagles actually have more long term assets in place than Dallas lol
That’s because the Eagles have a GM that is good at what he does and actually knows what the hell he’s doing. Typically teams that go all in on free agency and trades end up like the Rams and Bucs. The Eagles have assets to make up for what they gave up in the AJ Brown trade so very likely they won’t be a 1 hit wonder but that is yet to be seen.

Well at least he’s not calling the plays. Lol
Almost as strange as when they hired Mike Nolan.

AJ brown was a big contract, sure, but Reddick probably isn’t even a top 20 highest paid pass rusher in the nfl. If so, he’s probably near the low end.

Even just doing the AJ Brown trade is what Jerry is talking about though.

And I will say it again, I’m personally not saying that the way the Eagles, Rams, or Bucs went about building their team is the wrong way. If anything Jerry should be paying attention and trying to do the same thing. I’m just clarifying what exactly Jerry is talking about, not that I agree with him. As a fan I would gladly suck for the next 5-10 years for 1 SB.

Genuinely asking, who was the last big name free agent the cowboys lured?
Can't think of one from top of my head

No idea but I found this. Biggest free agent acquisitions for the cowboys. Notice how they are all during super bowl years (except T.O). Maybe Jerry should start to dip into free agency again, I don’t know..

The AJ brown trade was a very calculated gamble considering his best friend is the starting QB of the eagles and he’s still very young. Also it’s a bit of a unique situation since the eagles were able to trade back from #6 to #12, still get devonta smith while adding an additional 1st. That wasn’t the 1st howie used in the AJ brown trade but if howie didn’t make that trade back from 6-12, I’m not sure he does the AJ brown trade. It was almost a “free trade”.

Don’t worry. It’s not a sexy hire now but Jerry is thinking long term. Maybe this guy can develop into being a good coach in 8-10 years.

I’d say it was all very similar

Jenkins was high priced, McLeod was high priced, Brandon brooks was a big signing, Alshon was a big trade

Everyone thought bradberry was finished before this season, reddick was considered an ok signing

AJ brown was a big trade

    It was very similar

I think we take a slight step back defensively but a big step offensively. I think they resign edwards as well. I think we draft a CB, DT and probably DE

I think the defense will be ready to go again by 2025. Hopefully the offense can carry them next year
CJGJ makes the most sense I think that will be top priority.

I agree with the slight step back but that still puts us in fine to pretty good territory which if the offense takes another step should keep us in contention next year, if we get one or two impact rookies and vets chasing rings I see no reason we can't run this **** back.

Personally I'm hoping for CB at 10 and DE at 31, with my limited knowledge of college prospects that also seems to be where the value is so would fit with a bpa approach. Everything after that I just want bpa non QB(before round 5 or so) or K. The more I think the more I see just how well we are set up for the future, barring any unforseen circumstances.

It was a great move. Howie Roseman should be front runner for Executive of the Year. But it was a gamble. It paid off big time but still a gamble.

Brandon Carr was the last big free agent they signed and that was in 2012. They signed him to a 5 year $50M contract. He wasn’t terrible but he also wasn’t great (remember the Odell 1 hand catch?). He was being paid to be great. Since then they spend their money resigning their own and only sign outside free agents to fill holes. They stopped going after top tier free agents from other teams.

You know what, I was going to type this long response but it’s exhausting and I’m tired of hoping/expecting him to do or say what’s best for the team but he’s a *******. I’m not going to try to explain or justify what he’s saying. It’s not worth my time. He’s clearly senile and has no clue what he’s talking about. His son is a bigger idiot than him too.

    **** Jerry and his sons.
