The ironic thing about his comment is that didn’t he literally make a deal with the devil during his last super bowl? I thought he said something like “if you give me a super bowl this year I’ll never ask for one ever again”… I mean, if that’s not going all in for one season then I don’t know what is…

Yeah, he's the one who should build a one-hit-wonder if he wants the Cowboys to win another SB while he's still alive.

But ultimately it's just something Jerry tells himself to cope with his team's lack of success.

    Long term what?

Is 30 years long enough or does he plan to keep building a little longer?

Look forward to the eagles next Super Bowl appearance when jerry discusses how the cowboys focus on consistency unlike the eagles
I seriously saw rhe headline and thought it was the media twisting words then read the whole thing and could not fathom this man saying this.
    Soo jokes

The Cowboys traded a 1st for Amari Cooper, could/should they now trade their 1st for Tee Higgins?

It might interfere with Jerry’s longterm planning

No. Higgins is basically healthy Michael Gallup. A good number 2 and athletic but not a number 1 IMO

Eagles are 21-6 since Sirianni's flower speech. (23-7 including playoffs.)

He’s acting like it’s easy to build a 1 hit wonder. If it’s so easy then he should do it.. the eagles had a “1 hit wonder” in 2017 and I absolutely loved that team. Crazy thing is the eagles rebuilt another super bowl worthy roster 5 years later, so maybe it is easy, Jerry just isn’t doing it.. so he can wait for the “long term” thing to come around but we will be sitting here and our grandkids will be grandparents and Jerry Jones will be 163 years old when they finally do get one because he preferred the “long term”.

Yeah I think he’s a great #2 but I’m not sure he can dominate defenses as the consistent #1 option. The bengals probably want what the titans got for AJ brown, but that’s hilarious because he’s not AJ brown.

I wouldn’t mind trading for Higgins but the problem I would have is both Higgins and CeeDee Lamb are due to be paid. Also part of the reason the Bengals are even entertaining the idea of trading Higgens is because he wants to get PAID. Now that could just be the Bengals cheap ***** staying true to form. He would be better right now than any WR they could get in this draft.

I finally read what Jerry said and y’all might be misinterpreting what he said a little. He is saying that you risk being a 1 hit wonder when taking the route that the Rams and Eagles have taken (and the Bucs before them). The Rams, and Rams proved it. The Eagles still have to prove that they can win the SB and have to prove they can keep winning after that so the book is still out on them. They still have a chance to change that narrative. The Cowboys in the past have tried that route by swinging big in free agency. They fell flat on their face though.

What he’s saying is that he’s rather build his team for the long haul instead of throwing all his chips in on one hand. Basically he’d rather play the slots instead of betting it all on the blackjack table. For years Jerry was that “wildcatter” oil man that would risk it all. He’s changed a lot since the early days. That and the fact that Stephen Jones has a death grip on Jerry’s wallet has changed things.

The eagles won a superbowl 5 years ago? Using a similar method on top of that

In that time the eagles have overhauled their roster and coaching staff and are back in the superbowl so I guess they proves they could keep winning after that.

They don’t have to win the Super Bowl to prove their method is better than Jerry’s long haul. They’re back in the Super Bowl after winning one 5 years ago

The rams went to a Super Bowl, lost, went back and won. They had 1 down year. Who knows what 2024 will be for the rams

During both these franchises apparent short term thinking you have 4 Super Bowl appearances and 2 wins

In that time frame what have the cowboys done?

It’s one of the funnier jerry is senile moments.

If I was placing bets I’d bet on the rams making an nfc championship or greater before the cowboys

The way the last Eagles SB team was built was not exactly the same way the current team is built. Other than Alshon Jeffries that team was built almost entirely through the draft. This current team though has some high priced free agents. They have to prove they can maintain the same level of success over a long period of time (longer than just 1 season to prove Jerry wrong).

Keep in mind I’m not saying Jerry’s way is the right way to do things because as a fan I’d gladly take a couple of down years for a chance to win a SB. I’m just speaking from Jerry’s point of view. Also Jerry’s way hasn’t exactly worked as you pointed out.

The Rams and Bucs are the epitome of what Jerry is talking about. They blew their wad for a chance at a SB and it paid off. Both teams may suck for the next couple of seasons but they have a SB win in their back pocket, that’s more than Jerry can say for his “building for the long term”.

Malcolm Jenkins, Chris long, Brandon brooks, Rodney McLeod, Ronald Darby, Nigel bradham, Alston Jeffrey, lagarette blount , jay ajayi, Torrey smith, Patrick Robinson, Timmy Jernigan

These are all people that were signed in 2016 or 2017 except Jenkins who was signed in 2014

12 people who played major roles, most of which starting roles

    Fun fact

The eagles only starting offensive player that wasn’t drafted by the team is AJ brown. The eagles actually have more starters on offense that were drafted by the eagles than 2017. By far btw. And on defense

Bradberry, slay, white, reddick, CJGJ, Hargrave, suh, Joseph, all signed

Maddox, sweat, Cox, graham, edwards, Blankenship

    All drafted

So the eagles actually have less free agents playing pivotal roles than 2017
