Its about money. Florial is not an option because Hicks is still owed 40 million bucks over the next 4 years. Same reason the Mets won't bring up Alvarez. McCann is being paid 24 million over the next 2 seasons.

But the IKF thing doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I get SS is a hard position to play but everything you hear about Peraza is that he's an exceptional fielder. Meanwhile that's the thing the Yankees brought IKF in for was his defense which has been less than spectacular. What's the worst that can happen? Peraza is demoted? To me, if a prospect can't make it back from a demotion then he presumably has no business being in the majors to begin with. The Yankees have nothing to lose bringing up some of these guys. They're literally getting next to nothing from IKF, Hicks, Gonzalez, Locastro and they could use the infusion of young talent.

At the very least Florial and Peraza should be up.

The Braves were in the same spot. They had no CF and they needed a SP. Both call ups have benefitted them greatly.
agreed with all. Not to mention we have German in the starting rotation, with Schmidt in AAA throwing 6 perfect IN with 11Ks on 78 pitches, but he's not going to help the MLB roster.

Marinachio is sent back to AAA, after only giving up 3 runs in the last 6 weeks

Cashman operates differently with his specs. He keeps them down to keep value higher. Unless he has a can’t miss prospect ready to play and there is a position open he will lean towards a veteran.

If the Yankees were in 2016 mode then the kids would have a chance.

Cashman is not going to budge.

And He already has his 2023 team pretty much set, position wise.

Unless Benny blows it out of the water Florial won’t get a chance until next spring.

Cashman will likely give Carpy another season.

    2023

    Stanton, Judge, Hicks, Carpy, Florial?
    Or
    Stanton, Judge, Hicks, Carpy, Benny

Judge will get resigned, not worried, Halmhas to after this season.

There is chatter that Gardy might get a look to replace Benny

Verlander will say no to his players option and want a Mad Max money deal. Yanks should think about that….

Correa will also opt out and he could be the SS for 2023 as well…

I’d sign Correa and trade Volpe, Peraza, Dom and Torres for another TORP

    1. Cole
    2. Verlander
    3. New TORP
    4. Cortes
    5. Schmidt

Beni is gone. Don't forget about that great trade with Monty. The Yankees have Bader. He will be the CF.

    I don't know if they re-sign Mustache.

My guess is the Yankees will have 4 open spots next year.
    Backup C
    Utility IF
    4th OF
Big Bat. (They may bring Carpenter back if they get youth at the other spots.)

My hope is that Peraza takes SS and IKF takes Gonzalez's role.
Wells or Breaux develop and take the backup C spot
Flo is your 3rd OF and hicks is the 4th
Andujar could be the bat but I think he's gone.

Have to bive Montas a shot. Don't write him off after one crappy start. He will need 3-4 starts before we can even start to assess.
Sure, you want to sign Verlander? Ok.

    V
    Cole
    Montas
    Nestor
    Schmidt

But keep the kids That rotation presumes Sevy and German are in the pen. I am guessing Sevy will be desperate to be in the rotation in his contract year. Probably pitch 200 innings with 30+ starts. Yankees will sign him to a 5 year deal and after he signs the paper, his arm will fall off.

Which is incredibly ironic considering what happened when the Yankees let some kids run the show in 96...

The difference was Mo and Andy got their feet wet in 1995 and Jeter started from Day 1 in 96.

The kids right now would be suicide.

even though verlander has been great this year his strikeouts per inning is way down then what it was before the surgery..scherzer still has his great stuff.. i be concerned about verlander if he wants a 3 year deal at his age of 40 next year

The question is, would the Yankees have been better with Waldi and Wesneski coming out of the pen with Monty as a SP or are they better after those trades? I think the former but hope it turns to the latter.
JP Sears is a better pitcher than Montes. Waldi, a future ace. The talent Cashman pissed away at the deadline will weaken this team for the next 15 years.

You may be the one person on Earth with worse trade ideas than Cashman.
