Dom is 2-3 years away. He is a very high level spec and will be asked for in pretty much any big trade. Reynolds helps this team immediately and he's under team control through 2025, so the Yankees would

Rodriguez was a guy a lot of us talked about last yr. If Blake can fix him like he did with Luetage, Abreau, Wandy, King and Holmes, we just got another really good BP piece

This is the kind of move that you seem teams with great pitching coaches make. Pitchers that are struggling often try to sign with teams with great coaching. We usually see the Dodger, Rays and Cleveland get these types.. Blake is starting to get a strong rep

We have a 13 game lead. You trade a guy like Dom when you really need a player to get over the hump not in a situation like now.

Thats not it at all. Very good case Dom develops into what Reynolds already is and Reynolds helps us this yr.

I don't think anyone whats to trade Dom, but if doing so helps get us the chip, it should be done for the right guy and Reynolds is that guys.

Another factor is Dom has both Pereira and Flo a head of him and i'm not sure he's going to be better than they are anyway. Plus we have a kid just as talented already locked up in IFA this yr

Just trade for another veteran starter as Sevy and Cortes may run out of gas. But you only need a 4 or a 5 and that will not cost top specs.

No. It isn't. If you traded a guy 2-3 years away who has a high ceiling for a guy, under team control for this year and the next 3 years, who is an all star caliber CF and switch hitter, to take the place of an underperforming CF or LF, it is not a panic move. It is an upgrade. It is an upgrade that helps this team for the next 4 playoff runs. That is not a panic move. That is a though out trade. It makes sense.

A panic move would be trading the farm for an aging rental or a guy who they won't be able to sign long term.

As all of us, including you have said, you cannot rely on specs.

Here's a question, if the Yankees did this and won 2 WS in the next 4 years and Dom turned into the next Mike Trout but the Yankees ended up with another young, long term and good answer in CF, would it be worth it?
I would say yes.

Would it be worth it if the trade got the Yankees a great CF and Dom fizzled or became a Melky Cabrera type player? I would say yes.

The only way this would be a bad trade is if Reynolds can't play in NY and turns into Hicks. I don't think that will happen.

As I said, I prefer to trade for Happ as he will likely cost way less. But to suggest a package around Dom for Bryan Reynolds is a panic move? Not even close.

As underwhelming as Dominguez has been I don't think trading him for Reynolds is the right move when Happ is also available. and will likely cost way less. Unless, the Pirates are willing to take Andujar, Weneski, Breux, etc and call it even, I say no to trading Dom and other top specs for Reynolds, who isn't exactly having a career year himself.
