It's nuts.
I think it has to be for trade value. The longer they keep Flo down and the longer he hits like he has been, the higher his value.
Aside from that, there is absolutely zero reason to keep running out Gallo instead of him.
The worst part and what has been my fear with Gallo is, he goes on a streak and then Cashman talks about they were waiting for that to happen and then not do anything. Gallo will go cold and they will be right where they are now.
Sometimes, cut your losses. Trade him to SD for any sort of spec you can. Who cares about getting back the value you used to get him. It's not going to happen
Ignorance is bliss
That the problem around here. They want some wipe out pitch to prove that they are good enough. Sometimes heart and determination gets the job done. Sears could replace Taillon next season and the Yankees would then save some cash. But some on here want that starter to be 6ft 5 235lbs, a 99 heater and a wipe out breaking pitch. If not, then they need to prove how good they are for 5 straight years before they would agree. By then the ship has sailed!

I looked at Gallo’s numbers. And they are not as bad as they look.
120 games as a Yankee, 22 home runs.
He may need a few years to figure out in playing in NY. I’m sure by 2024 he will finally be adjusted. That uppercut swing is so inviting to Yankee Stadium
Cash may need to resign him on a 2 yr deal. Yanks are playing .675 ball since Gallo was traded here. Do you want that good luck charm traded now?

Really? Come on Mush.
As a Yankee-
120 games- 442 PA- 61 hits, 22 HR, 40 rbi, 65 BB, 172 ks. 164/276/333/609
Last season 228 PAs 88 ks
This season 214 PAs 84 ks
He will likely have more Ks in the same PAs as last year
That's "not that bad"?
Come on.
If that's not enough, factor in that in 95 game for Texas last year, pre-trade
388 PAs. 69 hits, 25 hrs, 55 rbi, 125 ks- 223/379/490/869
So in 80 fewer PAs, he had more hits, Hrs, RBI and a lower K rate with significantly, higher numbers everywhere else in every other category
Gallo is a very bad hitter right now. Very, very bad

Nicky it has absolutely nothing to do with, size, weight or velo. It was a statement about his stuff. He gets good results, but doesn't have that wipeout secondary pitch.
You brought up Monty vs Pettite and who would u want in a playoff game, the other day. U and everyone else said Pettite because you knew what you were getting based on sample size. A half or even full season doesn't make you an ace or a TORP. Look at some of the Cy Young winners in the last 10yrs, a couple guys had absolute monster season then disappeared. Hell look at the CY Young last yr, Ray won, Cole finished 2nd for the 3rd time in a row. Who would you rather have this yr?
Saying Sears doesn't have that wipeout pitch and we have better coming in the system or he's a trade chip, isn't a knock on Sears. It more about saying what an unbelievable job we are doing developing pitching.
You just posted the other day to trade Nestor, the guy you were saying was our ace, for Montas because he was throwing 99. Everyone can be seduced by big velo.
Another example is Gil, who does have the size, 99 FB and got very impressive results as a MLB starter. He doesn't have a wipeout breaking pitch either. If we keep him, more likely than not when he gets back, he would go to the BP because we have better guys coming very soon
Sears will likely be a very solid starter for someone, but it's not likely us IMO. Sometimes a specs biggest value to a team is as a trade chip. If Sears can be a big piece for a player like Reynolds, Happ or Benintendi that huge for us.

Joey Gallo is expected to see exponentially less playing time leading up to the trade deadline, where he is expected to be moved.
It appears he will be taking a bench role with NYY until a resolution.
The Twins and Padres are interested in acquiring the outfielder.
Yanks playing sloppy today
Torres drops an easy underhand.
