Capitol gains are generated by stocks. Stocks must be purchased, which means one would need to earn money to purchase them. When money is earned, it's taxed.
The government takes no risk for the capital gains. In other words, i earn a paycheck. The government taxes it. Fair enough. I take whatever is left over and purchase some stocks. If the stock is successful, the government gets to tax me again. What if the stock fails and i lose money? Will the government pay my mortgage? Car payment? Kid's college tuition?
For INCOME tax perhaps, but how about capital gains? While the market can earn you money or lose it, and it is your risk to earn (be taxed) or lose (get nothing), that is still earning power.
I still believe we need to add 3 tiers to our tax brackets. Currently, those who make between 209k-523k pay the same rate. We should break that in half, and apply a 37-40% rate to $340-523k. We should also add another tier at $1M let's say, at 45%. And anything over an absurd amount (like $20M), should just go straight to taxes.
Those making under $65k as a household shouldn't pay income taxes either.
And more so, corporate tax loopholes need to be gone entirely. Sustainable energy is about the only push I can stomach giving a corporation a tax break on with earnings.
And FINALLY, going back to the topic here, healthcare premiums should also work on a sliding scale, with a max obviously. Someone with an income of $65k a year shouldn't pay more than $100-120 per check for premiums. Someone making $200k should be paying $350/check. Someone making $1M should be paying $500/check. Max it out around there, but you get my attempted point.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Healthcare is a service we all NEED. And it should be run by the federal government. If we are going to keep it privatized, and it is a clear need for all, it must be affordable, hence a sliding scale.
You keep chasing a car as an example. A car isn't a NEED. Healthcare absolutely is.
Those poor people making over $20M. Whatever will they do with only $12M after taxes![]()

But people dying because they can't afford health care is totally fair...that's what your system nets. It operates on a sliding scale but the people who aren't getting care in your sliding scale are the plebs who have no advocate. So they die silently...the way you want.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/01/rich...20to%2030.2%25.
the top 1% own over 32% of the nations wealth. They should be paying no less than 32% of the overall income tax. The top 10% own 70% of the nations wealth. They should be paying no less than 70% of the income taxes. I am in the top 10% and I would have no problem with my taxes rising a bit if I am confident it would go to those in need.
All in all, taxes on the top 10%, and specifically the top 3% (those earning over around $300k) should be taxed higher than they currently are. And again, a sliding scale of healthcare premiums should be used.
The rich don't need relief. How some of you want to protect them is insane to me, when 2/3 families live check to check and are 1 emergency away from potential bankruptcy. Who ****ING CARES about someone making $400k having to kick back an extra $30-40k in taxes/healthcare premiums.

1) We all need
2) The government needs to run less, not more. The government doesn't really do a good job at what they run now.
3) A car is a need. It's transportation. I'd argue it's more needed then healthcare actually.
4) You keep wanting to stifle innovation and growth with your taxes

1. we all need healthcare.
2. The govt needs to run more, especially sectors like healthcare, prisons, education.
3. A car is not a need for many, many people in urban areas. In fact in some cities, it's a nuisance. Healthcare is a need for literally everyone.
4. This is an age old fallacy of the republican party belief. Easily proven false, but you won't listen anyways.
