Holmes reminds me of how little effort Mo always made the 9th inning. No full counts, no foul pitch after foul pitch, no max effort pitches. He either gets a quick strike out or a weak grounder, just like Mo used to do it. It'll be real interesting if he keeps this up for the whole season.

Hicks is worthless.

He is. He's a verteran and knows what needs to get done and he can't execute. If we need a big hit or anything done at the plate in a big spot, he's the last guy we want up. Hicks has no real assets to this club. He isn't a good defender anymore, isn't fast enough to be dangerous on the bases and he doesn't even hustle.

Certainly not the start I was hoping for from him. He's also never been in a big spot like that before either. I'd still like to see him get a few more reps, but he certainly has made a couple of plays that he has to be better at if he wants to stick around. I still would take him over Hicks.
Even though he missed played that 1 ball he should have caught, he's still shown to be elite defensively throughout his career. Plus he has great speed and the power just need to show up at the MLB level.

He's out of options and IMO they absolutely have to findout what they have in him. Is he a 4th OFer, can he be a better than Hicks quality CFer? He's 24 and they are getting short on time with him

Agreed, they came up huge when we needed them to. What a night from Trevino, hell of a job from him. If you look at the league avg offense for C's, shockingly he's been a bit better than league avg at the plate

I also agree about Andujar. If Stanton is going to miss time now, they should give him a shot at DH. He was our best all around hitter his rookie yr and I don't think anyone close has the offensive potential he does

With Stanton hitting the IL these two need to come through. It is time to shite or get off of the pot.

You knew the combo of Judge and Stanton wouldn’t last all season.


These two are a risk reward combo. Now Stanton likely gone for 3-4 weeks.



And you can’t just stick him at DH. He needs to play the field, you have to just take the chances….Stanton playing the field makes lineup more flexible.

Hopefully King can mixed it up more on next game vs the Rays. He has become way too predictable. That breaking pitch looks fabulous when he throws it but now the batters know when it comes and just layoff. He needs more fastballs on 0-2, 1-2 counts. Why swing when you know that breaking ball is coming and it will end up low and outside? Reverse it. Throw breaking pitches on first pitch to the batters at times. He can still be very valuable piece of the pen. But he will get his head beaten in as they will layoff and then sit and then you saw what Odor did last night. He knew the pitch selection just by watching game film and getting scouting reports.

Personally, I think this is what they need. This will show us, who this team truly is. When all the big boys are playing well, of course they are a juggernaut but now that they have to change things up a bit, it's a great treat for them.
This moment and the ones to come are why I have withheld my judgment of this team.

I will be very surprised if DJ is in the lineup in 2 days. I think he will be down for a bit and if not it will affect him. Stanton, you are likely right 2-4 week range depending on severity.

The last few seasons, guys stepped up, so I hope Flo take this chance a d makes the best of it.
