Covid-19 postponed the WhiteSox game today. Hopefully we play tomorrow…

Day, I agree, Torres might not be that guy who hit 38 homers. Something smells fishy.

His niece said he was wearing a buzzer on his leg that told him fb or off speed in 18-19. In no way is that confirmed, but he hit 70 hrs in his 1st 2yrs and less than 25 since. I agree Nicky, there is something fishy

Surprised they went with Gil over Schmidt or even Sears.

Schmidt can't come back up until the 15th I believe.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it came from Torres' niece.

Torres is on pace for 30 hr this year over a 160 game schedule. Also, and I will admit this is completely anecdotal... but he seems to have been absolutely ripping the ball recently. I have seem at least 8 hard hit balls of his go directly at people. If I had to guess, I'd say he has ran into some bad luck and if he continues to hit the ball as hard as he has the past couple of weeks his average is going to climb fast

And sure enough my "eye test" is supported by Torres' batted ball profile. So far, he is destroying his career hard hit % (50% compared with 37%), average exit velo (92.6 vs. 88.6 mph), barrell percentage (11% vs 8.7%), xSLG (.600 vs .461), and xba (.303 vs .260). His k% is a career best 17%. His BB%, however, is a career worst 4%.

Altogether, he is outperforming his 2019 season in every metric except bb% and homerun rate. He's in for a monster season if he keeps hitting the ball as hard as he has.

He seems to be buying in to the new Yankees Batting Coach batting philosophy. Hit Strikes Hard.

Can’t argue too much cuz they are 22-8 but why does Boone give the hot hand off today? Torres was smoking last 2 games and tonight he is resting.

    Ridiculous!

There was a reason why Torre won 4 of 5 World Series

I know, I know, the analytical powers probably told Boone that Torres is 1-32 vs Cease.

All these guys have scheduled rest days. Its part of baseball now. Baseball started load management and basketball popularized it/made it more utilized. No one likes it but its a 162 game season and they want to give these guys days off. Sometimes these guys request it too if they are banged up. That's one thing I can't fault managers for because we're not in the dugout with these players. They are. Not to mention, the front office has input on those things as well.
