1 and 2 are interchangeable for me.
Bull Durham is a close third but I think the characters in the first two were so good.
Every kid in Bad news Bears had his moments that were epic and Mathau was insanely funny
Major league also had hysterical characters with developed quirks. Tom Berringer and Charlie Sheen were as good of a pitcher/catcher pair as Costner/Robbins
Costner/Robbins and Sarandon as a trio were probably the best actors and did a spectacular job.

Trouble with the curve, the whole anals vs eye test of a scout going blind who would listen to the pitches and the way the ball was hit was awesome. And it's ****ing Clint goddamn Eastwood

Field of Dreams had such great history and was super interesting and such a winding story with one awesome through line to the father son catch
(James Earl Jones didn't hurt either)


Honorable mention would be "The Sandlot" and "8 men out" 8 men out was amazing. John Cusack was fantastic but it was so heavy.

1) Eight Men Out ( Black Sox scandal has a special place in my heart, many moons ago I directed and acted in an original play written by a friend. We were actually 15 years ahead of the movie! Play was called "Say it Ain't so Joe" )

2) The Pride of the Yankees- Classic

3) League of their Own - Brilliant

4) Bull Durham - Imo a real BB movie.

5) Field of Dreams - A bit too idealized, still a great script and performance by all.

Honorable mention - Moneyball, The Natural.

Doc, I totally agree about Bull Durham. It really feels like the game of baseball when you watch it.
I think that its story is so subtle, sad and beautiful. It's also, extremely well acted and directed.

Yep, agree with all.

One that may not get any Academy Award nominations but starred Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris was a '62 film titled "Safe at Home".

Major League is such an underrated flick and comedy in general imo. Easily one of the best sports movies out there.

Should add "Bang the Drum Slowly". A tear jerker starring a very young (and relatively unknown) DeNiro. Two thumbs up.
