Wrong. You don't deal your top pitcher for rebound former first round prospects who had no track record to measure. You get high ceiling top prospects when you are going into a rebuild. If they were signed as free agents, then that's a different story. Chapman was a good buy low deal because he already has a proven track record. Atkins was the laughing stock of baseball after the Happ deal. Cashman took full advantage of him.

Wrong. You don't deal your top pitcher for rebound former first round prospects who had no track record to measure. You get high ceiling top prospects when you are going into a rebuild. If they were signed as free agents, then that's a different story. Chapman was a good buy low deal because he already has a proven track record. Atkins was the laughing stock of baseball after the Happ deal. Cashman took full advantage of him.

I don’t think it’s really opinion that it was a bad trade. It was terrible. There is a lot people could sound off on. A lot of obviously bad moves early in atkins career.

But none of that matters if he eventually leads us to the holy ground.

Classic Atkins. Held onto him too long. I remember watching a Steve Phillips report on TSN before those 4 games where even he suggested that the Jays not wait on trading Happ because a bad start or two would have decreased Happ's value. And I believe up until those four starts, Happ pitched some gems.
