Yeah, I don't think there is a single specific issue being the reason why the offense sucks Some regression was to be expected given over performances last year but now it's swung hard to severe underperformances. Is it Coolbaugh's fault? IDK, he was the hitting coach last year too. Bad luck with the BABIP? Some of that sure. Depth issues on top of it too, you can't call up a bat outside of Greene and have it be a potential upgrade to anyone. No idea where to start or what to do to be honest outside of the typical answer: Fire Avila.

I hate to say it, but we're in "hold on" mode

like, the opposite of fire everyone, we're supposed to be good and we're not...

but we weren't supposed to be playoff good anyway, so it's like ok hold on, let's play this out, with everyone hurt, idunno this is a tough evaluation year

edit: I just read that back and realized how incoherent I sound lol

Right. I feel like its either blow it up AGAIN or stand pat on the hope that the bats rebound next year. The bats are impossibly bad, like they can't be this bad again right? Problem too, they really don't have the assets to improve the roster, and the assets they could move should be part of the team going forward.

so, good news, the Tigers scored a run! 22 inning scoreless streak ended, AND Brieske was pitching so well it was 1-0

Then Soto comes in, or as I call him "HERE HE COMES TO WRECK THE DAY"

walks the first guy, then complains about the mound, the groundscrew comes out to repair the mound he pissed all over. He then takes a liner to the leg, might wanna come out after he's hobbled, nah leave him in.

Plunks the next guy. Next batter strikes out looking on a pitch way out of the zone. He proceeds to walk the bases loaded and then gave up a 3 run triple.

    Definitely tanking

Riley Greene making his debut tonight.

Poor Meadows goes on the Covid list.

Edit: Greene debuts tomorrow so no need to continue watching this crap game.

yep, shutout again, outscored 28-2 in the last 4. Hopefully Greene can inject some life into this offense, but we'll probly ruin him

it's crazy that old man Mig is the only guy consistently getting hits

Riley definitely brought some mojo today, we scored as many runs (14), as the previous 9 games combined

I'd like to believe this is a turning point but I remain skeptical.

i think finding the positive in "scoring 5+ runs in back to back games for the first time all season" is funny lol

    it's such a sad stat

Positive: Baez looks like he is getting the bat going again.

Negative: Offense still blows and Skubal seems like he is coming down to earth a bit.

yeah, working with Skubal as a strikeout artist to get him to be a longer innings guy isn't really working
