Figured we should have a new thread now that Gettleman and Judge are out.

Really like the list of potential GM candidates so far.

-Joe Schoen - Buffalo Bills assistant GM
-Ryan Poles - Kansas City Chiefs executive director of player personnel
-Ryan Cowden - Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel
-Monti Ossenfort - Tennessee Titans director of player personnel
-Adam Peters - San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager
-Ryan Carthon - San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel
-Adrian Wilson - Arizona Cardinals vice president of pro personnel
-Quentin Harris - Arizona Cardinals vice president of player personnel
-Joe Horitz - Baltimore Ravens director of college scouting

I think Schoen, Horitz and Wilson will be the top of the list. If Schoen comes with Brian Daboll I think that gives him an edge.

Ryan Poles could be intriguing also because I think he would potentially come with Eric Bieniemy.

I would like to see Ed Dodds on that list. The problem , if it is a problem with Bieniemy is that Andy Reid calls the offensive plays and he has Patrick Mahomes as his QB so it is hard to really evaluate Bieniemy.

I don't know much about Horitz but being that he comes from the Ravens is a big plus for me .

I think lots of people have the same "big unknown" concern about Bieniemy - he's a victim of being surrounded by the best of the best.

Schoen coming along with Dobbel seems like a likely possibility. But Horitz is a very solid candidate as are Coles and Peters.

I just hope Mara and let it play out properly.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone like John Dorsey on the list. He has proven himself in the past with the Chiefs and the Browns. He laid the foundation for the current Browns team when they were the worst team in the NFL. That was a huge turnaround at the time. He got fired before the team did well, but he starter the process.

They’re clearly looking to go with a younger pool though. Nothing wrong with Dorsey but I think their list sends a clear message of what they’re trying to do.

And I like it.

I could be mistaken but I believe that the new Giants GM will be someone from the initial 9 man list that was posted here. If they don't pick one of them it will send a message that none of them were good enough to be the GM of the Giants.

It shows the importance of finding your franchise quarterback and why GMs will often reach on their guy (and I don’t blame them). Either he works out and the capital to get the guy is moot or he doesn’t work out and it becomes the next GMs problem.

Agreed and that’s kind of my point. These guys are big names because of the situations they have inherited (no fault of their own).

It’s impossible to say whether Lafleur would have similar success with the Giants than the Packers. But considering Rodgers vs Jones I tend to think Lafleur would not be thought of as highly with the Giants.

So it’s a gamble no matter who we hire. Seems like the McVay coaching tree has gotten off to better starts but even there youve got Taylor tied to Burrow and Staley to Herbert

The most important hire is the GM. Watching these playoff games you realize just how far behind the Giants are as an on organization.

So much improperly utilized draft capital and cap space for years and years exacerbated further by terrible coaching and player development has left this team behind 31 other organizations.

I definitely wonder if the right HC can take some of the current guys and squeeze good play out of them to the tune of this team winning 7 or 8 games. But overall what we really need is a GM that understands talent evaluation and roster construction with a real plan.

Now that all 9 reported candidates have interviewed, I would think we should hear within the next 24 hours of the 4-5 that will go to step 2 and do in person. I think those will happen over the next few days(wens thurs Friday) and we could have an answer within the next week on whom the next GM will be.
