John Madden dead at age 85

Wasn't alive to watch him coach but been playing his NFL games and watching his NFL commentary since the early 90s. May he RIP.

Rest in peace. T's/P's to John's family and thank you sir for the memories. The commentary between he and Pat Summerall sold me on football as a kid. That and the Madden video games

RIP grew up listening to him doing broadcasts and well we all played madden in our lifetime.

Hopefully next year they dedicate the Madden cover to him it would only be right.

It's weird. Fox had a special on him this past Sunday that was taped that he was on. Madden curse?

I got them when they first came out. 93, 94? Somewhere in there. I know they don't hold up well now, but they were amazing then so that is still my favorite.

90 percent of the game is half mental - John Madden.

2002. It was the first football game I owned too.

2005 was the tip of the iceberg for the game. More features than any other one.

I remember watching a documentary several years ago talking about how Madden kept delaying the first iteration of his game because he refused to let them make it anything but 11v11. IIRC that was the first game to feature 11v11 football.

I miss him talking about Brett Favre regardless of who was playing.
