It's almost like they gave him a giant bonus for not playing defense.

When you are behind Bobby Abreu who only gets around 8% of the votes then your candidacy is not that impressive.

But he does deserves to get in IMO. His bat is that impactful, but many others should get in first.

Oh yeah, Ortiz absolutely deserves to be in the HOF. Super clutch hitter and either the best or the second best DH of all time.

Asked in a call with reporters after the results were announced if Bonds and Clemens belong in the Hall of Fame, Ortiz said, “Not having them join me at this time is something that’s hard to believe, to be honest with you. Those guys did it all. It is what it is, and there’s nothing I personally I can do about it.”

Ortiz said Bonds became his idle as far back as the mid-1990s when Ortiz was a minor-leaguer in the Mariners’ organization and watched Bonds take batting practice.

“Barry Bonds, I don’t think there’s ever going to be a human being capable of doing what he did when he played,” Ortiz said. “He’s special. Sometimes it’s going to be hard for people not in this game to understand that. Barry Bonds, to me, separated himself from the game at the highest level.

“I know there are a lot of things going on, but to me, the guy was a Hall of Famer way before everything, all the talk, all the things. This is a guy who played the game at a whole different level. Same with Roger, the Rocket. When I see these guys, I don’t even compare myself to them because I saw so many times those guys performing, and they were something that was very special.”

First ballot after being a DH most of his career and being connected to steroids.

A big, warm smile and swearing in a speech go a long way I guess.

What happened they were over the hall threshold weeks ago? They were sitting around like 80% why did they drop?

He was the best DH that retired that year.

I don't understand why people think Schilling belongs in the hall of fame, he hasn't been credibly accused of being a cheater like Bonds and Clemens.

Someone hasn't paid a lick of attention to the HOF voting process over the last decade and/or is doing his normal brand of disingenuous trolling.
