    LA Zero Bail Policy

Was wondering how many support this policy in Los Angeles

Basically there was an incident around thanksgiving where they caught 14 people on video breaking into things and stealing but were back on the street the next day

Policy was put in place to keep the jail lower in wake of Covid I believe

    Do you support this policy?

I support eliminating bail for any non-violent crime (this is separate from removal of things like a passport to eliminate fleeing). But these crimes are by definition violent, so they should have to put up bail or even be denied the opportunity for bail.

Only if zero bail results in the perpetrators being held in jail until their trial

They are trying to end the policy of having suspect wait in jail up to two years for their case to be heard. If you are innocent who will give you back that wait time. It is cheap remedy to just setting up more courts to handle the case load.

We need to put it in term they understand. What if Rittenhouse had to wait in jail for years before his case? Show how it might aggrieve a white male and it will get through more clearly.

Nope, still donít care. Rittenhouse was innocent, but still an idiot who brought every bit of that on himself.

The example the OP gave indicated that these perpetrators were captured on video committing the crimes. No one was going to sit in jail for 2 years as an innocent man.

If the crime was non-violent, they do not have a history of violent crime, and there are not a clear flight risk I donít think they should be imprisoned prior to being found guilty of a crime. Freedom!

What if instead of two years, they waited five years? 10 years? How long can we wait before trying someone before it crosses a line? All because they can't afford bail.

If they are caught red handed as they were in this circumstance, I don't give a **** how long they sit there.

Seems like a reasonable way to treat someone who stole.

That were planned smash and grabs. Not someone stealing a piece of gum. What is the deterrent if there isn't a consequence?

Yes. I know what bail is. It is an additional deterrent to committing a crime, along with jail time.
