You critiquing the timing of when people talk about politics in respect to gun violence is complete nonsense as there are high profile shootings almost daily and gun violence is evergreen. When can we talk about it, brett?

You're a perfect example of why things don't get done though. Conservative politicians love people like you because you do a great job of diversion while deriding those who are tired of hearing about "thoughts and prayers" without action.
That's exactly why I'm posting what I post. The idiotic red bubble he lives in likely doesn't show him this. He likely only sees how "crime ridden" Chicago is. His foolish point of "give time to grieve and care" is dumb for the exact reason you've mentioned as well as every article I've posted since he made the stupid point. There are kids being shot every day (adults too). There will never be time to discuss policy if we wait to "care" (whatever that means in his dumb head).

Sadly, there are people who think exactly like him but it took me until he talked about it to realize there are. Does he understand how often people need to "give time to grieve and care" in this country with all the gun violence there is? Does he get that people want to stop the frequency in which those events occur? Nope, instead lets villainize gun control activists because they want to do something about the very actions that lead to all the "thoughts and prayers".

It defies any type of real logic but that's a good summation of most of brett's positions. This one especially.

I’m beginning to think you just don’t want to discuss gun control…

Given how much you care about these kids, your post is surely a serious one in which you want to do everything you can to prevent more kids being shot.

So I guess chirping is the best method of preventing kids from being shot.
His apathy is palpable. He should tell all the people who have children, siblings, friends, etc who were victims of gun violence and decided to advocate for gun control measures how "political" they were/are being btw. They are clearly being selfish and uncaring as well.

Also according to karen05, these families need help/support. He hasn't defined what he means by that, especially since giving real support usually costs money, something his party claims they want to reduce (spending on social programs).

But who is disagreeing with that? You can support those people in terms of helping them financially and sending your condolences while in the same vein trying to make sure there are less victims of gun violence in the future. Government support is not strictly about expanding mental health and as you said, its not something on the GOP's radar, regardless. Its about legislating ways that these events happen less frequently.

As plenty of people have pointed out already, I don't think he's remotely interested in addressing gun control. Not when he pushes aside every measure that has been proposed. Nor when you have to fit it in his hypothetical window of when its an appropriate time to make it political. So far in 2023, a person has died of gun violence once every 12 minutes. When is it an okay time to bring it up?
