    That was the first one I thought of as well.

    The only reason they won their division was because they went 7-0 against the Dodgers in the regular season. Had they gone just 4-3, they lose their division.

    The 1987 Cardinals (with an injured Jack Clark) and the 1988 Dodgers had weaker offenses.

    I forgot all about that Cards team, yeah, they were really bad. They were nearly .500 and won the world series.

    And were swept in the WS. The Cardinals won that WS in 2006 in 5 games. Probably splitting hairs but I would give the edge to the team that the world series in the respective year that they made it.
