If he isn't scoring or contributing swap him out for Bev. But I feel like he REALLY deserved to start for our team. Having that shooter on the floor is something we desperately needed.

Vanderbilt has been damn impressive. I honestly just watch to see his hustle and energy! He has had a couple good 2 game stretches. I honestly think if he gets a bit bigger and stronger we could probably use him long term as our starting four.

McDaniels hasn't really progressed. His defense is good and his effort on rebounding has been better but he still isn't a major threat.
You forgot to mention that ANT is a BEAST! FIFY

That was a pretty good win, being .500 at this point is solid especially given where we started. We are currently ranked 5th in drtg. I am not sure it stays that high but the defensive side of the ball seems to clearly be where the improvements have come. I think it is a mix of effort, right role players, and coaching. It probably won't stay this highly rated but if we can stay around top 10 on that side of the ball it's a big step in the right direction.

Offensively we could use ant and dlo being a bit more efficient. Beasley as a spark plug needs to be a bit better too imo. I think we have the talent to eventually get into the top half of the league in ortg (currently 18th). I am fine with us being 3 pt heavy as opposed to being last in league or whatever but if we can get to the line a little more it would be helpful. We need to attack a little more when we space defenses out.

It's a pretty good start to the year all in all. Ant hasn't quite looked like he did to end last year but at the same time the potential is still there. Towns has played pretty well overall. It's not great but we have some talent and solid role players so we hopefully can keep it up. Last chunk of games have been fun.

And this is for all of you. I absolutely hate how D'Lo get's **** on on every forum I visit. For some reason, the same advanced stats that people love to use to prove how good somebody is are all of a sudden not valid when we are talking about D'Lo. I will die on this hill, but I think D'Lo is underrated AF. Yes, he is a chucker, but he is a phenomenal contested jumpshot maker, not to mention that he has been providing the best defensive effort ever in his career this season.
I am now the one late to reply, as our defense the past 5 games has lifted us from 12th to 5th overall. Look, the effort is there, but our transition defense went ghost for 3 weeks, but has since returned. I am not certain the impact of Bev/Vando/Jaden can be measured just yet, but they have the rest of the team buying in. The issue, as always, will be consistency. 17 of the next 20 are against real teams. Let's see where that defensive rate sits then..

DLo...haha. Look, when he is scoring efficiently, he is fine. The issue is, he has the eternal green light to take 18 footers even when not hitting, and unfortunately, when he isn't scoring well, he offers nothing else. A one dimensional, inconsistent scorer who dribbles the air out of the ball is frustrating from one game to the next. His defense is below average, but sure, at least he isn't melting away on a pick and allowing the defense to go against 4 this year (again, perhaps the Bev/Vando/Jaden impact). Russell is absolutely having his strongest defensive season. But he is also having his most inefficient season. My gripe is, when he isn't hitting, get the ball out of his hands immediately, and stop letting him run the offense into a grind.

offensively, we are still shooting way too many 3s with the players we have, and not getting to the line enough. Ant specifically needs to use his gifts and get his FTR above 30%. It's ridiculous he isn't living at the line with his burst. Beasley waking up, and Ant finally starting to make a few, has moved us to:
    #1 in 3PA
#20 in 3% (up 5 spots from my last post regarding this)
    #24 in FTA

going in the right direction. But a lot of work to do to become even a passable offense. Our D is literally winning us games so far, and that scares me haha

The last 6 games have been fun though. If this defensive effort keeps up, and we can be even average offensively, a winning record is attainable.

I know oefarmy is pumped after that one, dlo killed it when needed. Too bad we lost to Hornets but that was a nice bounce back win.

we all love D-Lo when he is hitting....

The frustration with him comes when he is not hitting, and instead bogs the offense down with his slow, methodical approach. It kills clock, and guys end up standing around watching him dribble the air out of the ball.

But yeah, he literally saved us against Philly

Read today that since 2019, Russell leads the NBA if effective FG% on what they consider "clutch" shots in the 4th. 54.3%. Needed at least 200.attempts to qualify, so he is in elite company.

I just love Edwards speed. In the end I think that is what truly sets him apart physically from other players. Reminds me of Lebron speed back in the day.

I like the fact that we are beating teams that we are "suppose" to beat. We are also giving potential playoff teams plenty to handle. This looks great overall for our chances of making the playoffs and being at the very least a pest.

I am very concerned though that in a playoff series that a good team is simply going to pack the paint and double down on towns. Our outside shooting just isnt good enough to compete in a 7 game series against a good defensive team.

This team is going to be as good as Beasley takes us. I know he is not our main offensive threat but when he can make shots we become so much harder to beat. If we have him and Dlo hitting we can make some noise.

Also, do any of you really want to swap Rubio back for Beverly? I ****ing hated beverly on another team but he's so good at getting others around him to be accountable and really has raised our defense overall.

I'm not quite at we will be playoffs level but we seemingly can be the type of team dangerous enough to give anyone a fight at least. Your concerns come playoff time might be valid but even just making it would be a big step for us. I think we have nearly enough outside shooting but the issue is some of our defensive role players that have been important in games (vandy and okogie for example) can't shoot at all or add any spacing. Playoff teams likely will take advantage of that to help make it very difficult on Towns.

Agreed on Dlo/Beasley hitting shots being a key for us. I really hope Ant picks it up a little too, he is good but after how he ended last year it feels like there is still so much untapped potential. Towns needs to stay out of foul trouble but he seems pretty consistent on offense it is the other guys that need to keep stepping up with him.

I said before the season Rubio wasn't an overly big on court impact for us. Beverly isn't elite by any means either but I do think you can pretty easily argue his value is higher than Rubios was here. He plays pretty efficiently on O taking what is given but ya defensively he has some impact for us.

It looks like Indiana might be willing to blow it up. I wonder what it would take to get turner?
Would we be willing to give up/they take McDaniels, Prince and Layman for Turner?

I wonder what it would take. I feel like Turner is a big missing piece for this team.

I think we'd have to throw in a sweetener - especially since McDaniels has regressed some this year.

Prince and Layman are essentially worthless - though Prince is a nice expiring contract.

defense has fallen 8 spots. We have now gone from +1.9 net rating to -1.5.

We are getting blown out nightly. The defense is no longer cohesive at all, breaking down routinely on the first drive/kick and we are letting teams set team records for 3's made. Guys are holding the ball on offense as usual, and Ant's typical stat line of 8-20/3-9/2-3 is becoming frustrating to understand. If he continues to be a chucker whose drives usually just put him in trouble, it is yet another player we failed to develop in the longest list any team has.

I haven't watched the last 2 games, and I see literally no reason to start watching again.

If Simmons is available, I would absolutely throw McDaniels into that trade offer. Without a thought.
