2021-2022 Roster is set. Any opinions!

The roster has been set. Kravtsov & Barron have been sent to Hartford.
13 forwards: Lafraniere, Zibenajad, Kreider, Panarin, Strome, Kakko, Bial, Chytil, Goodrow, Hunt, Rooney, Reaves, Gauthier.
8 defenseman: Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Trouba, Lundkvist, Nemeth, Tinordi, Hajek
    2 goalies: Shesterkin, Georgiev

Seems management was afraid to lose Gauthier, Hajek, Hunt and/or Tinordi to waivers so they decided to send down Barron & Kravtsov who are both exempt from waivers. Kravtsov can’t be happy. I can see him heading back to the KHL very soon. After all he, like Zack Jones deserved to be on this team.

    Any opinions?

Kravtsov is as good as gone

I didn’t watch the preseason, but was he really not good enough to make it? I mean, from what I saw of him, he looks like a player.

Some strange moves for sure. I guess we’ll see how it works out

I watched all the preseason games. Thought Kravtsov looked good, yes he missed 2 games with an injury but he looked good in the games he played. Had a PP goal in the last, but even in the other games, he forechecked, went to the corners, has a couple of steals, made good passes, passes that weren’t buried because Goodrow has not looked good. To tell me that Gauthier, Hunt, Hajek, Tinordi played better or deserved to make the team over him, NO, sorry, NO!—-I get it Gauthier & Hajek had to clear waivers and could get claimed, but Hunt! Really, no one was gonna claim Hunt. If you want to talk who looked good this camp: Blais, Chytil, Kakko, Zac Jones. Who looked bad: Goodrow, Rooney, Nemeth.

New rumor is Kravtsov’s camp is allowed to seek a trade. Now of course rumors in the beginning of camp included Fatboy Phil Kessel wanting out of Arizona, the are rebuilding—-he’s 37, fat, and is making 1 mil. & Tarasenko who wants out of St.Louis—of course the Blues will have to eat some of his salary, for cap purposes.

Gallant was a grizzled, gritty player. He doesn't like guys who don't forecheck, help out on defense, or play physical. Most of all, he doesn't like a whiny kid who thinks he deserves a spot because he came all the way from the KHL.

Personally I think Gallant was testing his character. IF he took his assigment, he'd get called up dozen games later just like Chytil needed that wake up call.

Now, the Rangers have the ball sac and muscle to go toe-to-toe against the Caps.

Elliotte Friedman’s is reporting that the Rangers can do no better than a 2nd Rd pick for Kravtsov, tho’ thedailygoalhorn is putting it out there that perhaps there’s a deal that can be done with Detroit ( who is still in a rebuild) a package of Kravtsov plus for Dylan Larkin.

As a way to build his value, Kravtsov has been loaned to the KHL.

New rumor: Rangers are looking at Filip Forsberg. 27 yrs old winger on his last year of a 6 mil. per year contract, and a free agent at years end. He is looking for a raise of that 6 mil.

I say it again, why did Drury deal Buchnevich? His explanation was cap. But Buchnevich signed a contract extension at 4 yrs and 5.8 mil. per. Trading for Forsberg who is currently at 6 mil. and wanting more money makes no sense at all. Plus Buchnevich has more pts in his last 3 yrs than Forsberg has, he’s already proven he can play well with Zibenajad & Kreider.

P.S. Kravtsov had 3 pts in his 1st game in the KHL, including a highline reel of his excellent stickhandling goal shown on the NHL network.

This franchise is a mess including 4 pts between Lafreniere and Kakko. I think this coach doesn't fit the roster.

I still just don’t get it. Banishing and wrecking the relationship with a very high-skill guy, because we want to go with a team of grinders, and rely on our two high draft picks that honestly show very little in the way of elite skill

I guess the record says otherwise, but I just don’t see us having enough firepower

Agreed. The Flames were a perfect example of a skilled team smoking a gritty team. Yeah sure, the Rangers are gritty but that's not playing to the strengths of more than half their roster. So what's the answer?

Shesterkin is standing on his head, if he is not lights out we’d be in last place, just look at how bad Georgiev has looked because of our poor defensive play—Is it too early to start blaming Murphy for his poor system?

The Rangers track record trading with Steve Yzerman is NEVER good. Just ask 2 time Cup winner, Ryan Mcdonagh.

Packaging Kravs for RFA RW Matthew Tkachuk at the end of the season is the BEST way to go about it.

Rangers have the cap space, need RW badly. Tkachuk wants out. He's a bruising physical RW that the Rangers need desperately.

Kravs wants out. The Rangers have the young players like Nils to throw in to entice Calgary.

I agree, and may I add that we have Zac Jones who’s all as good as Lundkvist is, and doesn’t need to have a rostered player i.e. Nemeth, to help him transitioning to North America.

Most recent news: Jeff Gorton is the new VP of Operations for Montreal, maybe he’ll be interested in some of the players he traded and/ or drafted.

Also, San Jose has placed Evander Kane on waivers and according to Friedman they are willing to pay half his salary in order to move him, that means getting Evander Kane at 3.5 mil. per for 3 yrs. would you deal for him?
